My dear friends,
Beginning this Sunday and for the full summer months until Labor Day Weekend, IHM will change the Sunday Mass schedule to 8:00am, 10:00am and 12:00 noon. The 5:30 Vigil will remain the same on Saturday eve. Please take note and pass it along to those who might not receive this announcement.
Together with our new seasonal church sign on Post and Boulevard, please join us this morning at 9:30am in the School Auditorium for Sr. Nancy's talk to prepare for the Holy Spirit and to expect more of this Gift of God.
This past Ascension Thursday, following the request of the Archdiocese of New York, our Carillon bells were tolled 21 times at noon to remember the victims of the Uvalde, Texas, school shooting. Know that we will continue to pray for the victims this weekend at Sunday Masses and for the safety of all school children.
This Thursday IHM welcomes Bishop James Massa, Rector of St. Joseph's Seminary and an Auxiliary Bishop of Brooklyn, for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Our students have been preparing to complete their full initiation into the Church; please pray for an openness to the grace of God, a worthy reception of the Sacrament and for powerful new witnesses of Jesus' Resurrection in our parish and communities!
This past week a wonderful initiative of local parishioners and people celebrated the 5th Annual Candlelight Vigil of the Care Coalition (www.lovenevergivesup.com),"a community that cares deeply about saving the lives of our children and preventing another tragic loss of friend, family member, or neighbor, to substance abuse, bullying, or suicide. [The] goal is to bring quality resources to your fingertips and provide the tools needed to help in making better decisions. Our mission is to engage the community in spreading the word that we are united in helping those struggling find help, hope, and healing." It was an inspirational evening and may the Lord bless their wonderful work.
I am looking forward to the IHM School Alumni event on Wednesday, June 8th - more information is below!
For this Memorial Day Weekend (please take note below of the holiday schedule for Monday), as we remember all those men and women who have given their lives in the service of our country, may I ask your help in being able to pray for all IHM parishioners who are presently on active duty, in our Military Academies and part of ROTC Programs. Please call or e-mail names to the Rectory, if they would like a remembrance in prayer in our bulletin.
A blessed Sunday and Memorial Day!
