Hello everyone. I hope you are well and keeping safe.
You might have seen me hobbling around here and there in the parish. I have been dealing with some inflammation and fluid in the sacral region. Today I get an injection into that area and I hope I will be walking along the Bronx River Parkway again!
Enjoy the day.
Here is a little quote from St. John Henry Newman which offers a simple insight that without the cross in life, we are doomed to phoniness and to things that come and go and distract us from the real, eternal things. Therefore, we must be very discerning and look for the cross, just as the resurrected Jesus showed his wounds to the apostles.
In this day, Christ comes not in pride of intellect, or reputation for philosophy. These are the glittering robes in which Satan is now arraying. Many spirits are abroad, more are issuing from the pit; the credentials which they display are the precious gifts of mind, beauty, richness, depth, originality. Christian, look hard at them…and ask them for the print of the nails. (Historical Sketches II)
