IHM CHURCH - July 26 Bulletin
Hello everyone. I hope you are well and keeping safe. These hot days have been brutal. Monday evening, I went downtown to visit a priest friend of mine on 14th Street. I decided to take the train(s). I felt as though I was in a desert both because of the heat but also because the place looked like a ghost town. I pray to God for so many people out of work. It was obvious to me as I passed one closed storefront after another. Maybe some of you or your loved ones have lost their jobs. We lift you up in prayer.
I had a great talk on the phone with your new pastor, Msgr. Luke Sweeney. He is currently finishing a term of service to the Holy Father in the Vatican in the Congregation of Bishops. He was in formation work for the college seminary, vocation work for the Archdiocese and parish ministry as well. He hails from Irvington, but don’t hold that against him! He is eager to be here but probably won’t land until the middle of October because of work that needs to be finished, travel restrictions and quarantine issues. He will soon send us some words and possibly a video by way of introduction. We might even set up some zoom meetings. Welcome Msgr Sweeney to a wonderful parish community! I wish you the very best and will keep you in my prayers as will the parishioners of IHM!
I was reading with interest the plans from the Archdiocese to move forward for our schools to open in the fall. I will follow up with details because I am sure you will have many questions, including the opening of the Religious Education Program here at IHM. I hope to soon have some good answers to share with you.
WELCOME TO IHM

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives:
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful you will win some false friends and true enemies:
If you are honest and frank people will try to cheat you:
Be honest anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight:
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous of you:
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, will often be forgotten by tomorrow:
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough:
Give your best anyway.

Give Blood and Save Lives
While the need for blood has not changed, where you can give it has
. When COVID-19 hit, our blood drives hosted out in the community stopped. Saving a life is no longer as easy as leaving your desk, but it is a was as visiting one of our donor centers. 75% of our blood donations were made at mobile drives and as we see business and organizations continue to remain closed, we must welcome an increasing number of donors in our centers if we hope to meet local patient need. While hospitals have resumed normal surgery schedules, mobile drives have not returned to normal, nor likely will in the next year. The closest donation center is:
Elmsford Donor Center

Please help us during this extraordinary time in our nation’s history by returning to donate blood in one of our
19 donor centers
