Hello everyone. I hope you are all well and keeping safe. Happy Holy Trinity Sunday! I know a number of priests who love this feast but do not love preaching about it lest they fall into using images and explanations that fall short of this sacred mystery of God’s love and life. So its not an escape on my part to suggest that The Holy Trinity is not to be figured out like a complex puzzle but rather to be honored, celebrated and thanked for the beauty and mystery of God’s life. For me, an image that comes to my mind (hopefully a good and orthodox one!) is how we see something from the distance, let’s say a beautiful tree. And it looks as simple as that, a beautiful tree. But as one draws closer, a revelation begins to take place. There is more to the tree than we first realized. There is texture, branches, roots, birds, squirrels and what have you. For me, The Holy Trinity draws me near and welcomes me in. The Holy Trinity, God Almighty, one God, Three Persons, invites me to get up close and personal You see, The Holy Trinity is about loving and living and sharing those transforming gifts with each and everyone of us.
Would you permit to list a few items for your consideration?
- A number of people have asked me if there are any parishioners who need any kind of help such as shopping or food. I was able to help a few people from outside the parish with our food pantry. However, I have had no requests. So I make this request, if you need help in any way, especially food or shopping. Please let me know. Your fellow parishioners are standing by to offer their help.
- Speaking of the food pantry, we are completely depleted of food. During the Pandemic, while we helped a few people, we also handed over whatever was in the pantry to the HOPE family services, figuring it would be put to use right away and since no one was coming to the rectory anymore. However, if you would like to make a food contribution to help us get restocked you can leave bags by the door next to the clergy garage doors. Miguel will check regularly Monday thru Friday. He is here also on Saturday morning. If you need another time, please contact me at the rectory. The answering service will put you through to me in case it is on. But please don’t leave food over night outside. Canned goods and dry food are the best for the pantry.
- May I simply say thank you for the food pantry and for your regular contributions. You have been so generous and thoughtful in the support of our wonderful parish.
- May God bless you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen!
