IHM CHURCH - May 24 Bulletin
There will be no printed Sunday Bulletin this week. This message contains a shortened digital version. Please feel free to forward to others who may not be on our flocknote list. Please visit our website for most up-to-date information:
Hello everyone. I hope you are well and keeping safe. May I first begin by thanking you for your supreme generosity in these tough days. So many of you have sent “catch-up” donations of your regular weekly offerings. Last week, for instance, we did far better than last year! Way better! Thanks so much. I am also grateful for all the donations to the Cardinal’s Appeal. We haven’t reached our goal of $213,000 yet but I am happy to see that we have more donors than last year and thus far we have $137,480 pledged to the Appeal which is so much better than last year. If we could get there to our goal, that would be great. But once again, I am so grateful.
The Renew and Rebuild core group met to discuss the initiatives that you put in place for the capital campaign. Would you mind me asking if you could stay faithful to your pledges as so many of you have already done so. We had two major assessments done, one inside the church and the other outside the buildings of the rectory, the church and the House of Prayer. We have to soon decide what are the priorities such as roof repair, lighting system, carpet removal, etc. Again, thank you for your generosity, I look forward to keeping you posted!
This weekend, Deacon Luis Silva was supposed to be ordained to the priesthood. He now awaits a new date. Many of you have come to know him when he visits and stays at IHM. He was in my former parish for a year. He has been with us during this pandemic and is great company to us old priests! We look forward to his ordination and to his first Mass here at IHM. Please keep him in your prayers.
Have a good week! Let’s hope that things start turning around for the better very soon.

UPDATE FROM THE ARCHDIOCESE OF NEW YORK
It is undeniable that one of the most difficult aspects of the ongoing crisis caused by Covid-19 continues to be the temporary suspension of public Masses and sacraments. Although there are
livestreamed Masses available
through the parishes of the archdiocese, we all eagerly await the return of in-person practice of our faith.
For the past number of weeks, several priests of the Archdiocese of New York, members of the curia and I have been discussing with each other and consulting with medical experts on the best way to reopen our churches. Today, we held a press conference to introduce these guidelines for a safe and gradual reopening of our churches.
here are the documents
detailing our safety procedures, so that you can familiarize yourself with the precautions that will allow us to work with state and local officials to bring the Mass and sacraments back to the Catholic community in a responsible and expeditious manner.
Reverend Monsignor Joseph P. LaMorte, VG
Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia
UPDATE FROM IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY

Golden Jubilee Wedding Mass Postponed
As the COVID-19 outbreak evolves, the CDC strongly encourages us to assess large gatherings on a case by case basis in order to protect participants and the health of our local community. New guidelines and restrictions are in place to limit large gatherings and close contact as New York State slowly reopens. That said, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the
Golden Jubilee Wedding Mass
scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 7, at 2:30 PM at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. Updated information will be available in the coming weeks. Be Well and Be Safe!
