As we enter the month of November, the Church invites us to turn our hearts toward prayerful remembrance of the faithful departed — those who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith.
Beginning with All Saints Day on November 1st and All Souls Day on November 2nd, this month is a sacred time to honor the memory of our loved ones and all souls who await the fullness of eternal life. We are reminded that death does not break the bonds of love and faith — we remain united with them in Christ.
Throughout November, I encourage you to pray for the souls in purgatory, visit cemeteries, light candles in remembrance, and offer Masses for those who have died. These acts of love and devotion help bring comfort to grieving hearts and spiritual aid to those who have passed.
Let us also take time to reflect on our own journey of faith, living each day with hope in the resurrection and trust in God’s mercy.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.

IHM is proud to welcome our Archbishop back to the parish next weekend.
We are also delighted to announce that two of our former pastors,
Monsignor Ferry and Monsignor Sweeney, will be joining us for this special occasion. Their presence is a cherished part of our parish family.
During the Mass, the Cardinal will officially install our new Pastor and bless the memorial plaques commissioned by Monsignor Sweeney.
Following the liturgy, all parishioners are warmly invited to greet the Cardinal
and attend a catered reception in the Lower Church.

The Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Council serves as a consultative body of the parish whose responsibility is to advise and assist the pastor in matters relating to the parish. This includes promoting lay participation in the activities of the parish, evaluating the goals and needs of the parish, developing and recommending ways to address those needs, and finally developing and maintaining a two-way communication between the Council and the larger Parish community. Council members will also be expected to take a leadership role in the various Parish Council events as well as in the particular area of Parish life they are interested in or involved in already. Sunday, November 2, 2025 | The Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed
(All Souls’ Day) | John 6:37–40
Friends, in today’s Gospel, Jesus talks about raising us on the last day. Our faith is that God will clothe the soul in a new and higher body, what Paul calls a “spiritual body.” Here we might rely on the musings of John Polkinghorne, the Christian physicist, who appreciates the soul as the “form” or pattern of the person. God remembers this “form” and then reconstitutes it at a higher level during the resurrection, much as the pattern of an article or a photograph could be preserved in a computer’s memory and then reproduced in a new way.
Listen again to the words of Jesus in our Gospel today: “Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, and I will not reject anyone who comes to me.” As you pray for the souls of your beloved dead, take comfort in those words. They will be raised again.

The IHM Bible Discussion Group meets on
Tuesdays at 7PM in the lower Church.
The Sisters of the House of Prayer (across the street from IHM Church) will be offering a Life in the Spirit Seminar on three Thursdays, November 6th, 13th & 20th from 10AM to 11:30AM.
Sr. Nancy will give the talks designed to lead to an expectancy and experience of the grace of the Holy Spirit as it was manifest in the early Church. The seminar will begin with a short prayer in the convent Chapel followed by the talks, some sharing or questions and conclude with a time of intercessory prayer for the needs of the world, the Church and our personal needs.
IHM Religious Education invites you to a

Each family that registers will create an Advent wreath that can be used year after year and become a cherished part of your family’s Christmas tradition. The wreaths will be blessed by Father Ries.
