These milestones are more than personal achievements — they are powerful witnesses to the enduring beauty of the sacrament of marriage. In a world that often overlooks the quiet heroism of lifelong commitment, your love shines brightly. Thank you for showing us what faith, perseverance, and grace look like in action. May God continue to bless your marriages with joy and peace, and may your love always echo Christ’s love for His Church.
I also want to thank the many parishioners who came forward for the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick last weekend. Nearly 150 people received this healing sacrament following our Masses. Please continue to pray for all in our parish who are sick, homebound, or facing medical challenges. May they feel Christ’s presence through our prayers and compassion.
Finally, I’m proud to share that our school principal, Mrs. Tracy Keelin, has been named Catholic School Principal of the Year by the Forum of Italian American Educators. This honor reflects her outstanding leadership and the spirit of faith, service, and community that defines our parish school. We are truly blessed to have her guiding our children.
As many of you know, I’m away this weekend for a wedding, but I’m looking forward to being back and seeing you all next weekend!

2025 Public Square Rosary Rally
You are invited to the 2025 Public Square Rosary Rally on Saturday, October 25th at 12:00 noon. Will take place in the North Parking lot of IHM Church in Scarsdale, in front of the statue of Our Lady. This year as we pray Our Lady’s Rosary and other prayers in her honor, we invoke her blessings on marriage and the family and on our country and the world, and especially for Peace. This Rally is one of 23,000 rosary rallies, organized by America Needs Fatima, that will take place all over the United States. Please make an effort to attend. Friends, today Jesus tells us of the Pharisee and the tax collector—so, stereotypically righteous and unrighteous people—who both enter the temple to pray. But what a world of difference in their manner of praying!
The entire point of religion is to make us humble before God and to open us to the path of love. Everything else is more or less a footnote. Liturgy, prayer, the precepts of the Church, the commandments, sacraments, sacramentals—all of it—are finally meant to conform us to the way of love. When they instead turn us away from that path, they have been undermined.
Both St. Paul and the Gospel writers—as well as Jesus himself, of course—are intensely aware of this danger. This is precisely why Paul speaks of the dangers of the Law. He knew that people often use the Law as a weapon of aggression: since I know what is right and wrong in some detail, then I am uniquely positioned to point out your flaws. And when I point out your flaws, I elevate myself. In short, the Law, which is a gift from God, has been co-opted for the purposes of the ego.

The 4th grade students went to Merkin Concert Hall to record the Italian Christmas song “Tu scendi dalle stelle.” “Tu scendi dalle stelle” is an Italian Christmas carol meaning “You come down from the stars.” Written by Saint Alphonsus Liguori in 1732, its lyrics express wonder at the birth of Jesus, describing His descent from heaven to a manger and emphasizing God’s love. It is considered one of Italy’s most popular Christmas songs and is often sung at Christmas Eve Masses.
Dr. Adamo, our music teacher, arranged this song for string orchestra with our students at the request of Italian tenor Luciano Lamonarca. Luciano recently won the first annual Vatican Music Award for his recording of The Song of Saint Pio, which Dr. Adamo also arranged. They will be giving a concert this December in Foggia, Italy, to celebrate the 180th anniversary of the Christmas song. The recording that the children performed on will be used to promote the upcoming concert
FIAME Principal Award - Congratulations Tracy Keelin!
FIAME, the Forum of Italian American Educators, holds a yearly dinner dance to honor educators that go above and beyond. One principal is chosen from public school and one from Catholic school. This year's Catholic school honoree for principal is our very own Tracy Keelin. The dinner dance will be held on March 27, 2026 at the Villa Barone Manor in Throggs Neck. The honorees will be introduced at our Epiphany luncheon on January 4, 2026 held at Fratelli's restaurant on Eastchester Rd.

A bassinette will be set up in front of The Christ The King Altar and will be there for the entire month of October. Baby items needed: receiving blankets, undershirts and stretchies (6-18 months), diapers, disposable (newborn and next size up) clothing (6-18 months), baby wipes, formula. Respect Life Sunday, October 5th, kicks off Respect Life Month, a time to pray for the protection of all human life. You can join one of the Life Chains, a peaceful and prayerful public witness for an end to abortion that offers a message of mercy and healing for those suffering as a result of abortion. Or you can participate in Rosary Coast to Coast, a movement to unite the nation in praying the Holy Rosary for healing of our country and a return to holiness. The IHM Bible Discussion Group is started St Paul's Letters to the Thessalonians on October 21st and will continue for the next three weeks. The IHM Bible Discussion Group meets on Tuesdays at 7PM in the lower Church.
All parishioners, friends and neighbors are invited to join us as we study the Pauline corpus in chronological order this year, appreciating Paul's theological development during his missionary journeys and writing campaign to churches he established or had previous contact with during an almost two decade period in the early Church. Paul encourages his converts to persevere in their Faith of Jesus Christ as the only savior of the world. Each Tuesday is an independent discussion so come to the ones you are available to attend.

Becoming Catholic & Catholics completing their Sacraments: The OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults - formerly RCIA) is a process of initiation into the Catholic Community of Faith for persons who are experiencing a conversion in their lives and seeking either Christian baptism in the Catholic Church or full Communion with the Catholic Church and completion of the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation. Religious Education: On the day of your child's/children's Baptism, the Church pledged to you, the parents, our assistance in raising them in the practice of the faith to keep God's commandments as Jesus taught us, by loving God and our neighbor. Here at Immaculate Heart of Mary, our Religious Education Program is part of this integral formation in the faith that would include daily prayer at home, family participation in Sunday Mass (and on Holy Days of Obligation), periodic Confession, and the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy flowing out from your dinner table. The goal is to come to know Jesus in and through the Church, to know, understand and be able to explain our Catholic faith, and to live the life of Jesus through faith, hope and charity. - Healing After Abortion: Do you know someone who is carrying the grief of a past abortion? There is always hope. The pain and sorrow of abortion does not need to endure for a lifetime.
