Friends, today’s Gospel recounts the Lord’s healing of ten lepers, only one of whom comes back to give thanks. Leprosy frightened people in ancient times, just as contagious and mysterious diseases frighten people today. But more than this, leprosy rendered someone unclean and therefore incapable of engaging in the act of worship. It is not accidental that the person responsible for examining the patient in ancient Israel was the priest. The priest’s job was to monitor the whole process of Israelite worship, very much including who could and couldn’t participate in the temple.
What is so important about worship? To worship is to order the whole of one’s life toward the living God, and in doing so, one becomes interiorly and exteriorly rightly ordered. To worship is to signal to oneself what one’s life is finally about. Worship is not something that God needs, but it is very much something that we need.

Respect Life Sunday, October 5th, kicks off Respect Life Month, a time to pray for the protection of all human life. You can join one of the Life Chains, a peaceful and prayerful public witness for an end to abortion that offers a message of mercy and healing for those suffering as a result of abortion. Or you can participate in Rosary Coast to Coast, a movement to unite the nation in praying the Holy Rosary for healing of our country and a return to holiness. IHM Boy Scouts Troop 2 Scarsdale Christmas Wreath Fundraiser
It is that most wonderful time of the year again! The Boy Scouts are launching their annual Christmas Wreath Fundraiser. The funds raised are used 100% to run the troop and provide the scouts with a robust program. The Scouts will be taking orders for fresh balsam wreaths, centerpiece, and crosses before and after all Masses the weekend of October 18th and 119h. The expected delivery date for the wreaths this year is after all masses the weekend of November 23rd and the 24th. Please support our Scout Troop and purchase a beautiful balsam wreath, centerpiece or cross!

2025 Public Square Rosary Rally
You are invited to the 2025 Public Square Rosary Rally on Saturday, October 25th at 12:00 noon. Will take place in the North Parking lot of IHM Church in Scarsdale, in front of the statue of Our Lady. This year as we pray Our Lady’s Rosary and other prayers in her honor, we invoke her blessings on marriage and the family and on our country and the world, and especially for Peace. This Rally is one of 23,000 rosary rallies, organized by America Needs Fatima, that will take place all over the United States. Please make an effort to attend. Becoming Catholic & Catholics completing their Sacraments: The OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults - formerly RCIA) is a process of initiation into the Catholic Community of Faith for persons who are experiencing a conversion in their lives and seeking either Christian baptism in the Catholic Church or full Communion with the Catholic Church and completion of the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation.
