Happy Patronal Feast Day of our beloved parish, the Immaculate Heart of Mary! Today at the 8:30am morning Mass we give thanks for the gift of Mary’s loving and immaculate heart, our model of faithful discipleship and maternal care. We are reminded of the purity, love, and faithfulness of Our Lady, who invites us to entrust ourselves entirely to Jesus through her heart. May her intercession continue to guide and protect our parish family.

On behalf of Sister Theresa Chen, Seminarian Ian Mendoza, and Sister Nancy Kellar, Thank You! for a special 10:30am Mass last week and to the nearly 400 parishioners who joined us last Sunday for the beautiful parish brunch at Lake Isle—to send us off to our next assignments and to wish 85-year-young Sister Nancy - Cent’Anni—a hundred years—and more! It was a heartwarming celebration of who we are as a parish: a family united in faith in Jesus Christ, friendship and community.
A special word of thanks to Carolyn Giannelli, Chair of our Parish Council, to Tracy Keelin, our Principal, and all who assisted them in the effort and coordination that brought this wonderful event to life! To those who have donated to make this event possible, in particular to Crystal Blue, Parish Property Management and to Mario Forgione Landscaping - thank you!

The evening before the brunch, we were blessed with perfect weather for our Eucharistic Procession through the neighborhood. What a powerful witness to our faith in Jesus in the Eucharist! Thank you to the Scarsdale Police for keeping us safe. Deep thanks to our benefactors who donated the beautiful canopy and umbrellino, to Ian Mendoza for organizing the servers and those carrying the not-so-light canopy poles and First Communicants; to Joe Brusco, Andrew Jeremiah and the Parish Council and HSOR for coordinating the procession to the pizza served afterwards, which, by God’s grace, was just enough! It was a joyful, reverent evening of adoration, praise and communion.
Know that early sign-up is now going on for our Religious Education Program. Mrs. Laura Covais, her staff and catechists are ready to welcome students for a new year to prepare them for the sacraments and to assist you the parents in deepening your children's knowledge and love of Jesus Christ in the Church!
A word of congratulations to Mrs. Keelin, her front office staff, Mrs. Elisa and Ms. Alyssa, to our IHM teachers and aides, and to our Development Committee, HSA and school families for bringing back IHM school to over 300 students enrolled for this upcoming school-year 2025-26! It was last over 300 in 2015. Tracy was hired when our school was at 188 in August of 2019 and is doing a stellar job at bringing it to a new chapter with a bright future, all with enthusiasm and a deep sense of family, faith and community! Congratulations and thank you for your hard work!
Looking ahead, as we prepare to celebrate our nation’s Independence Day this Thursday, July 4th, the new American flag that will be flown over our school will be in honor of Marie and Rosario Pessolano.

Please note that Mass on July 4th will be at 9:00 a.m. only, followed by a Holy Hour with the Divine Mercy Chaplet and Rosary. There will be no evening adoration that day. The parish offices will close early on Thursday and remain closed Friday.
Tonight, Fr. Raja (welcome back for your visit!) will celebrate the 5:30pm Mass as well as tomorrow's 7:30am Sunday Mass. I will offer the 9:00am Family Mass, the 12:00 noon Mass and the 3:00pm Sensory Friendly Mass. Fr. Thumma will offer the 10:30am Sunday Mass.

What is the Parish Council?
The Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Council serves as a consultative body of the parish whose responsibility is to advise and assist the pastor in matters relating to the parish. This includes promoting lay participation in the activities of the parish, evaluating the goals and needs of the parish, developing and recommending ways to address those needs, and finally developing and maintaining a two-way communication between the Council and the larger Parish community. Council members will also be expected to take a leadership role in the various Parish Council events as well as in the particular area of Parish life they are interested in or involved in already.

2025 Public Square Rosary Rally
You are invited to the Public Square Rosary Rally on Saturday, June 28th at 12:00 noon. It will take place in the North (School) Parking lot of IHM Church (by the Grotto). This year as we pray Our Lady’s Rosary and other prayers in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and we invoke her blessings on marriage and the family and for peace in America and in the world. This Rally is one of 20,000 rosary rallies, organized by America Needs Fatima, that will take place all over the United States. Please make an effort to attend. The Rosary Rally Captain is Priscilla Parameswaran. Please call the Rectory if you have questions (914) 723-0276. Please bring your lawn chairs and please be there on time.
- On Friday, July 4th Mass will only be offered at 9:00AM followed by Holy Hour from 9:35-10:35AM. All other times for adoration and prayer will be suspended and will resume on Monday, July 7th.

Friends, in today’s Gospel, Jesus declares that the gates of hell (“the netherworld”) shall not prevail against his Church. And Jesus insists that this society, grounded in Peter’s confession, would constitute an army so powerful that not even the fortified capital of the dark kingdom itself could withstand it.
It is fascinating to me how often we construe this saying of Jesus in precisely the opposite direction, as though the Church is guaranteed safety against the onslaughts of hell. In point of fact, Jesus is suggesting a much more aggressive image: his Church will lay successful siege upon the kingdom of evil, knocking down its gate and breaching its walls.
And notice, too, how Jesus uses the future tense—“I will build my Church.” Therefore he cannot be speaking simply of Peter personally but of all those who would participate in his charism throughout the centuries.
The integrity of this ekklesia will be guaranteed up and down the centuries—not through appeal to popular opinion (as instructive as that might be) nor through the ministrations of an institutional or theological elite (as necessary as those might be) but rather through the pope’s charismatic knowledge of who Jesus is.

Your contributions allowed us to offer a wide range of items.
In addition, we would like to extend our sincere thanks for the monetary donations that will directly support IHM Social Ministries. Your financial gifts will continue to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve. We are pleased to share that the items that did not sell were donated to several worthy organizations. The generosity of the IHM family has been overwhelming and, as a result, the recent Midnight Runs have been a wonderful success!! Our next two Runs will be during the warmer weather and we are targeting the following to replenish our inventory:
- Men's jeans waist sizes 30-36 and all lengths;
- Sweatpants sized small, medium, large, and extra large;
- Men's sneakers sizes 9 thru 13;
- Women's sneakers sizes 7 thru 9;
- Men's tee and golf shirts, especially large and XL;
- Women's tee shirts mostly large and XL
- Men's shorts, waist sizes 30-38
- Women's shorts and joggers mostly large and XL
- Rain ponchos, baseball caps and backpacks
We are also grateful to receive packages of new/unopened underwear and socks for both men and women. In addition, small sizes of toiletry items such as shampoo, body wash, mouthwash, toothpaste, etc. are always needed!!

IHM Jubilee Parish Pilgrimage to Italy
October 9 - 18, 2025

The itinerary features six nights in Rome and two nights in Assisi, with a day-trip to Loreto built in as well. Daily Mass – the cornerstone of each day – will be complemented by a rich Catholic touring program designed to bring the pilgrims face to face with the great saints, martyrs, miracles and cultural heritage of Roman Catholicism. Highlights include St. Peter’s Basilica, the Papal Basilicas, the Catacombs, the Roman Forum, the Pantheon, the Papal Audience in St. Peter’s Square and many incredible saints, churches, basilicas and holy sites throughout Italy.

Prayer Groups:
- IHM Centering Prayer Group: The Centering Prayer Group meets on Wednesdays at 10:00AM in the Church Library. Newcomers are always welcome. Meetings last around 45-60 minutes. The format includes: 20 minutes of Centering Prayer (a silent prayer form in the Christian contemplative tradition in which we seek to open our minds and hearts to the Divine Life within), Lectio Divina (a prayerful reading of Scripture) and a brief discussion. - Charismatic Morning of Renewal Meeting at the House of Prayer: This group meets on Thursdays after the 9:00AM parish Mass - Morning Prayer, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament with Intercessory Prayer and a discussion of the Scripture Readings for the coming Sunday.

Adult Faith Formation:
- IHM Bible Discussion Group: The IHM Bible Discussion Group has concluded the reading of the Book of Revelation and will resume the Scripture discussion group in the Fall. CLICK HERE for more details, to submit questions, or if you are interested in joining.
- IHM School of Community: This group meets on Wednesdays at 7:00PM in the IHM Rectory Conference Room to look at our daily life and discover who we are as Christians. The text discussed is "The Religious Sense" by Father Luigi Giussani. If you are interested in attending via Zoom, please contact the Rectory and ask to be put in contact with Carolyn of the School of Community.
Becoming Catholic & Catholics completing their Sacraments: The OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults - formerly RCIA) is a process of initiation into the Catholic Community of Faith for persons who are experiencing a conversion in their lives and seeking either Christian baptism in the Catholic Church or full Communion with the Catholic Church and completion of the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation. Religious Education: On the day of your child's/children's Baptism, the Church pledged to you, the parents, our assistance in raising them in the practice of the faith to keep God's commandments as Jesus taught us, by loving God and our neighbor. Here at Immaculate Heart of Mary, our Religious Education Program is part of this integral formation in the faith that would include daily prayer at home, family participation in Sunday Mass (and on Holy Days of Obligation), periodic Confession, and the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy flowing out from your dinner table. The goal is to come to know Jesus in and through the Church, to know, understand and be able to explain our Catholic faith, and to live the life of Jesus through faith, hope and charity.
