Our Corpus Christi Eucharistic Procession will take place this evening on Saturday, June 21, following this evening's brief 5:30 p.m. Vigil Mass. We will process out around 6:00–6:15 p.m. through the main entrance to the church on Carmen Road for a 20 to 30 minute procession on level ground. Thanks to generous benefactors, we now have all the appropriate liturgical items for indoor and outdoor parts of the procession (the umbrellino for inside and the canopy for outdoor use). First Communicants are invited to wear their outfits and participate with special honor, as well as any Scouts and the Knights of Columbus!
For those unable to walk the whole way, join us for the beginning and then meet you by the Blessed Mother statue.
Recent graduates of high school, college and university will be blessed after the Petition. Please come in Cap and Gown if you wish!
This Sunday, we celebrate Sister Nancy’s 85th birthday and bid farewell to Sister Theresa, Seminarian Ian Mendoza, and myself after our time of service here. We will be at the 10:30am Choir Mass and then head to the celebratory brunch at Lake Isle from 12:00–3:00 p.m., adjusted to accommodate the wonderful turnout—and now closed do to venue capacity! There is no cost to attend, thanks to sponsors who generously covered the first 250 guests. If you would like to sponsor additional attendees, either personally or through your business, please contact Mrs. Tracy Keelan at the school or call the Rectory. She and Mrs. Carolyn Giannelli, IHM Parish Council Chair, are doing an incredible job preparing a wonderful afternoon.
Father Raja, who has been visiting us for the past few summers will be returning this week to be with us in July. Recently Father was given a new parish assignment from a rural mission parish to the largest parish in his diocese!
Know that I plan to be on the Mass schedule through the first weekend of July before moving to Saint Joseph's Seminary in Yonkers. Speaking of July and August including Labor Day Weekend, IHM will return to the Sunday summer schedule on July 6th with Masses at 8:00am, 10:00am and 12:00 noon. Please note the changes for the summer.
This weekend I will celebrate the brief Vigil Mass and then with Fr. Thumma participate in the Procession. I will also offer the 7:30am and 10:30am Sunday Masses.
Fr. Thumma will celebrate the 9:00am Family Mass and 12:00 noon Mass.

What is the Parish Council?

This includes promoting lay participation in the activities of the parish, evaluating the goals and needs of the parish, developing and recommending ways to address those needs, and finally developing and maintaining a two-way communication between the Council and the larger Parish community. Council members will also be expected to take a leadership role in the various Parish Council events as well as in the particular area of Parish life they are interested in or involved in already.

Friends, our Gospel today tells about the feeding of the five thousand. Jesus instructs the crowd to recline, and they do so on the grass. Taking the loaves and dried fish, Jesus makes a meal that satisfies the enormous crowd. They are hungry, tired, worn out from their exertions, and Jesus gives them sustenance for the day.
For Thomas Aquinas, the great metaphor for the Eucharist is sustenance, food for the journey. The Eucharist is daily food, nourishment to get us through the day to day. How effective would we be if we never ate, or ate only on special occasions and in a festive environment? Not very. So, in the spiritual life, we must eat and drink or we will not have strength.
Is this just meant in some vague symbolic way? No, rather in a vividly analogical way. For just as the body needs physical nourishment, the spirit needs spiritual nourishment, and there is no getting around this law.
“Well, it’s no big deal if I stay away from Mass and refrain from receiving Communion.” Think again!

Troop 2 Scouts finished out the year with their last Court of Honor where they are recognized for their rank advancement and the merit badges they earned.
A long held tradition of Troop 2 is to march in the Scarsdale Memorial Day parade. The troop spent many hours practicing and it showed!
2025 Public Square Rosary Rally
You are invited to the Public Square Rosary Rally on Saturday, June 28th at 12:00 noon. It will take place in the North Parking lot of IHM Church (by the Grotto). This year as we pray Our Lady’s Rosary and other prayers in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and we invoke her blessings on marriage and the family and for peace in America and in the world. This Rally is one of 20,000 rosary rallies, organized by America Needs Fatima, that will take place all over the United States. Please make an effort to attend. The IHM High School of Religion (HSOR) welcomes all high school students every Wednesday from 7:30-9:00PM from September to June in the Lower Church Hall.
HSOR offers a fun and relaxing faith community with service projects, Prayer & Pizza, Game Nights, Christmas party, sacraments, Tee Shirt Giveaway, lively discussions, interesting speakers, Open Gym, Faith on Film, pizza and delicious donuts.

The generosity of the IHM family has been overwhelming and, as a result, the recent Midnight Runs have been a wonderful success!! Our next two Runs will be during the warmer weather and we are targeting the following to replenish our inventory:
- Men's jeans waist sizes 30-36 and all lengths;
- Sweatpants sized small, medium, large, and extra large;
- Men's sneakers sizes 9 thru 13;
- Women's sneakers sizes 7 thru 9;
- Men's tee and golf shirts, especially large and XL;
- Women's tee shirts mostly large and XL
- Men's shorts, waist sizes 30-38
- Women's shorts and joggers mostly large and XL
- Rain ponchos, baseball caps and backpacks
We are also grateful to receive packages of new/unopened underwear and socks for both men and women. In addition, small sizes of toiletry items such as shampoo, body wash, mouthwash, toothpaste, etc. are always needed!!

IHM Jubilee Parish Pilgrimage to Italy
October 9 - 18, 2025

The itinerary features six nights in Rome and two nights in Assisi, with a day-trip to Loreto built in as well. Daily Mass – the cornerstone of each day – will be complemented by a rich Catholic touring program designed to bring the pilgrims face to face with the great saints, martyrs, miracles and cultural heritage of Roman Catholicism. Highlights include St. Peter’s Basilica, the Papal Basilicas, the Catacombs, the Roman Forum, the Pantheon, the Papal Audience in St. Peter’s Square and many incredible saints, churches, basilicas and holy sites throughout Italy.

Prayer Groups:
- IHM Centering Prayer Group: The Centering Prayer Group meets on Wednesdays at 10:00AM in the Church Library. Newcomers are always welcome. Meetings last around 45-60 minutes. The format includes: 20 minutes of Centering Prayer (a silent prayer form in the Christian contemplative tradition in which we seek to open our minds and hearts to the Divine Life within), Lectio Divina (a prayerful reading of Scripture) and a brief discussion. - Charismatic Morning of Renewal Meeting at the House of Prayer: This group meets on Thursdays after the 9:00AM parish Mass - Morning Prayer, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament with Intercessory Prayer and a discussion of the Scripture Readings for the coming Sunday.
- IHM Women's Prayer Group: The Prayer Group holds weekly prayer gatherings for women Thursdays from 7:00-8:00PM in the Church Library. For more information, please contact the Rectory (914-723-0276 or ihmchurch@ihmscarsdale.org).
Adult Faith Formation:
- IHM Bible Discussion Group: The IHM Bible Discussion Group has concluded the reading of the Book of Revelation and will resume the Scripture discussion group in the Fall. Meanwhile, there will be preparation for the Sunday Readings at this time for the present time. CLICK HERE for more details, to submit questions, or if you are interested in joining.
- IHM School of Community: This group meets on Wednesdays at 7:00PM in the IHM Rectory Conference Room to look at our daily life and discover who we are as Christians. The text discussed is "The Religious Sense" by Father Luigi Giussani. If you are interested in attending via Zoom, please contact the Rectory and ask to be put in contact with Carolyn of School of Community.
Becoming Catholic & Catholics completing their Sacraments: The OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults - formerly RCIA) is a process of initiation into the Catholic Community of Faith for persons who are experiencing a conversion in their lives and seeking either Christian baptism in the Catholic Church or full Communion with the Catholic Church and completion of the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation. Religious Education: On the day of your child's/children's Baptism, the Church pledged to you, the parents, our assistance in raising them in the practice of the faith to keep God's commandments as Jesus taught us, by loving God and our neighbor. Here at Immaculate Heart of Mary, our Religious Education Program is part of this integral formation in the faith that would include daily prayer at home, family participation in Sunday Mass (and on Holy Days of Obligation), periodic Confession, and the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy flowing out from your dinner table. The goal is to come to know Jesus in and through the Church, to know, understand and be able to explain our Catholic faith, and to live the life of Jesus through faith, hope and charity.
