As we near Holy Week, among our Lenten practices to help us respond to the grace of God and make it to the finish line may be the Introduction to Prayer book by Bishop Barron that is for the taking at the entrances to the church, the opportunity for almsgiving in response to the Little Sisters of the Poor's begging mission this weekend at IHM and Reconciliation Monday of Holy Week (April 14th) where the Sacrament should be available in every parish (2-4pm and 6-9pm) from Montauk to Sullivan County, Staten Island to Saugerties, Kingston and Tivoli!
Please keep a few parish families in prayer as they walk with loved ones in hospice care. Some are even mourning the loss of their family member already.
October 2025 Parish Jubilee Pilgrimage to Rome – Give me an extra week to get the details to all from Pro-Rome Tours! The new dates will be a Thursday, October 9th departure with a return on Saturday, October 18th.

It has come to my attention that separate Palm Sunday Envelopes were mailed to us. Please know that there is only one collection, however, on Palm Sunday, and not two separate for the Sunday and then Palm Sunday. Either envelope will do.
A Mass all Catholics should go to at least once in their lives is the Chrism Mass, where the three Holy Oils are blessed by our Archbishop, Cardinal Dolan, and then we priests renew our priestly promises. Space is still available to join us on Tuesday of Holy Week (April 15th) – The bus will depart from IHM at 1:30pm (the procession tends to start 30 minutes or so before the 4pm Mass). The special Mass should last 60-75 minutes and the bus should pick people up about 20 minutes after the Mass ends; so around 5:30pm. Those staying in the city should arrange their own transportation home.
I would like to encourage the men of IHM to consider the Holy Name retreat in April at the Marian Shrine in Stony Point, a Jubilee Pilgrimage site in the archdiocese.
Our last Parish Fish Fry of the Lenten Season will be this Friday, April 11th, from 6-8pm in the lower church.

Little Sisters of the Poor at IHM
Please join us in welcoming the Little Sisters of the Poor to our parish this weekend – April 5th & April 6th. At Jeanne Jugan Residence the Little Sisters offer hospitality and care for 100 needy elderly men and women. They depend greatly on charity to carry on their mission to the aged and infirm. Any assistance you can give will help them provide for the needs of the elderly entrusted to their care. You may also donate using WeShare through the Little Sisters Bronx website. Friends, our Gospel today tells about the woman that the scribes and Pharisees caught in adultery. Imagine where they were standing when they caught her in the very act. The voyeurism and perversion of these men! Then they come en masse, in the terrible enthusiasm of a mob, and they present the case to Jesus.
Now, what does Jesus do in the face of this violent mob? First, he writes on the ground. The mysterious writing might indicate the listing of the sins of each person in the group. As Jesus said in another Gospel, “first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbor’s eye.”
And then he says, “Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” He forces them to turn their accusing glance inward, where it belongs. Instead of projecting their violence outward on a scapegoat, they should honestly name and confront the dysfunction within themselves.
This story, like all the stories in the Gospels, is a foreshadowing of the great story toward which we are tending. Jesus will be put to death by a mob bent on scapegoating violence.

IHM School students of HOPE Circle visited the Religious Sisters and patients at Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne, NY,
on Saturday, March 29, 2025.
Rosary Hill Home cares for terminally ill cancer patients and IHM has a long history assisting in their good work: years ago stitching necessary items for them and doing card parties to raise money for the good work; and more recently classes of Kindergarteners sing and 8th graders have visited.

The IHM CYO Track spring program runs from March 21st through June 6th. Practices will be held on Fridays from 4-5PM. The March 21st and 28th practice will be in the IHM south lot. Beginning April 4th, all practices will be at Hyatt Field. Meets will take place on weekends, dates TBD. Get those running shoes out and enjoy the outdoors! The program cost is $60 per child. Dear IHM,
My name is Rachel and I am a coordinator at HOPE. I am looking for volunteers to cook/serve breakfast on Wednesday and Thursday mornings to be served at 9:00AM. Volunteers should plan to be here 8:00-9:30AM. They will be making pancakes or preparing frozen waffles. We have special programming running for the homeless clients Wednesday and Thursday mornings starting this week 3/19 for three months through 6/19 and will be offering them a special breakfast on those days. We will need four volunteers a day. If any volunteers who would like to sign up for the following dates please let me know!

- IHM Centering Prayer Group: The Centering Prayer Group meets on Wednesdays at 10:00AM in the Church Library. Newcomers are always welcome. Meetings last around 45-60 minutes. The format includes: 20 minutes of Centering Prayer (a silent prayer form in the Christian contemplative tradition in which we seek to open our minds and hearts to the Divine Life within), Lectio Divina (a prayerful reading of Scripture) and a brief discussion. - Charismatic Morning of Renewal Meeting at the House of Prayer: This group meets on Thursdays after the 9:00AM parish Mass - Morning Prayer, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament with Intercessory Prayer and a discussion of the Scripture Readings for the coming Sunday.

- IHM Bible Discussion Group: The IHM Bible Discussion Group is reading the Book of Revelation. This may be a good Lenten practice on Tuesday evenings at 7:00PM in the lower church, ending at 8:30PM. We discuss two chapters from the Apocalypse of John every Tuesday through Lent and most of the Easter season until we finish the 22 chapters in May. - IHM School of Community: This group meets on Wednesdays at 7:00PM in the IHM Rectory Conference Room to look at our daily life and discover who we are as Christians. Becoming Catholic & Catholics completing their Sacraments: The OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults - formerly RCIA) is a process of initiation into the Catholic Community of Faith for persons who are experiencing a conversion in their lives and seeking either Christian baptism in the Catholic Church or full Communion with the Catholic Church and completion of the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation. - WAY OF THE CROSS OVER THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE On Good Friday, April 18th, 2025, Communion and Liberation will sponsor the Way of the Cross over the Brooklyn Bridge. Catholic and Orthodox Christians will participate in this walk together, in an expression of unity, as we share the same days for Holy Week this year. Participants will congregate for the first station at St. James Cathedral, Brooklyn, at 10:00am. After a station at the Brooklyn Bridge, the procession will follow the cross to a third station at City Hall Park in Manhattan. The final station will take place at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox National Shrine near the World Trade Center.
