This weekend, we reflect on Christ's Transfiguration, where Jesus revealed His divine glory to strengthen His Apostles for the trials ahead. As we continue our Lenten journey, may we keep our eyes fixed on Christ’s glory, drawing courage and perseverance from Him.

What is the Parish Council?
The Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Council serves as a consultative body of the parish whose responsibility is to advise and assist the pastor in matters relating to the parish. This includes promoting lay participation in the activities of the parish, evaluating the goals and needs of the parish, developing and recommending ways to address those needs, and finally developing and maintaining a two-way communication between the Council and the larger Parish community. Council members will also be expected to take a leadership role in the various Parish Council events as well as in the particular area of Parish life they are interested in or involved in already.

Sunday, March 16, 2025 | Second Sunday of Lent| Luke 9:28b–36
Friends, today’s Gospel recounts the story of the Transfiguration. Here, the glorified Jesus represents the fulfillment of the Old Testament revelation, symbolized by Moses, representing the Law, and Elijah, representing the prophets.
Let’s look at the two basic divisions. God gave the Torah, the Law, to his people, in order that they might become a priestly people, a holy nation, a people set apart, in the hopes that they would then function as a sort of magnet to the rest of the world. But the Law didn’t take. From the very beginning, the people turned away from its dictates and became as bad as the nations around them.
Let’s look at the two basic divisions. And then the prophets. Over and again we hear the call to be faithful to the Torah, to follow the ways of the Lord. The prophets turn on Israel itself repeatedly, reminding her of her sinfulness.
And then came Jesus, God and man. Jesus did what no hero of Judaism had ever done: fulfilled the Law, remained utterly obedient to the demands of the Father, even to the point of laying down his life. He brought the Torah and the prophets thereby to fulfillment.

Easter Flower Memorial Envelopes are available for donations for our Easter flowers. Your donation can be made in memory of a deceased loved one. Easter Flower Memorial Envelopes are available at the doors of the Church and are also included in your packets.
Gianna’s House Provides Care No Matter Where
Gianna’s House Pregnancy Care Center has launched a medical mobile unit, Tilma Care! They will be at the Immaculate Heart of Mary after the Masses on Sunday, March 23rd and parked in front of the rectory garages.
Tilma Care travels to the Bronx, Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess Counties to reach abortion vulnerable women offering free pregnancy tests, free ultrasounds, and free options counseling to support women and save lives. Join them after any Mass on Sunday for a tour and help to raise awareness and partners for this mission.
The IHM CYO Track spring program runs from March 21st through June 6th. Practices will be held on Fridays from 4-5PM. The March 21st and 28th practice will be in the IHM south lot. Beginning April 4th, all practices will be at Hyatt Field. Meets will take place on weekends, dates TBD. Get those running shoes out and enjoy the outdoors! The program cost is $60 per child. HOPE Community Soup Kitchen: Needs Your Help!
We are looking for more volunteers to cook for the HOPE Community Supper Program. The need is greater than ever. Cooking is done at home and delivered to the Church, it is then picked up and delivered to HOPE Community Services in New Rochelle (www.hopecommunityservices.org).
- Timing: Held every third Friday, and also the occasional 5th Tuesday of the month. NEXT HOPE SOUP KITCHEN Drop off: Friday, March 21st by 11:00AM

Saint Veronica's Guild Day of Recollection at IHM
All women of the parish are invited to the Saint Veronica's Guild Day of Recollection here at IHM on Saturday, March 22nd, from 8:30AM (8:30AM Mass) - 1:00PM. Sister Nancy Kellar will be offering the reflections. The cost is $15 (lunch included).
The generosity of the IHM family has been overwhelming and, as a result, the recent Midnight Runs have been a wonderful success!! Our next Run will be on Saturday, March 22nd and we are targeting the following to replenish our inventory:

Holy Communion for those with Gluten Sensitivities
For any who have sensitivities to Gluten, know that Low Gluten hosts (containing less than 0.002% gluten, <20ppm, fully in accord with Church Canon Law) are available for receiving our Lord in Holy Communion. For those unable to have any gluten, we are happy to offer Holy Communion from a separate Chalice. Please speak with a priest before Mass.

- IHM Centering Prayer Group: The Centering Prayer Group meets on Wednesdays at 10:00AM in the Church Library. Newcomers are always welcome. Meetings last around 45-60 minutes. The format includes: 20 minutes of Centering Prayer (a silent prayer form in the Christian contemplative tradition in which we seek to open our minds and hearts to the Divine Life within), Lectio Divina (a prayerful reading of Scripture) and a brief discussion. - Charismatic Morning of Renewal Meeting at the House of Prayer: This group meets on Thursdays after the 9:00AM parish Mass - Morning Prayer, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament with Intercessory Prayer and a discussion of the Scripture Readings for the coming Sunday.

Adult Faith Formation:
- IHM Bible Discussion Group: The IHM Bible Discussion Group is reading the Book of Revelation. This may be a good Lenten practice on Tuesday evenings at 7:00PM in the lower church, ending at 8:30PM. We discuss two chapters from the Apocalypse of John every Tuesday through Lent and most of the Easter season until we finish the 22 chapters in May. - IHM School of Community: This group meets on Wednesdays at 7:00PM in the IHM Rectory Conference Room to look at our daily life and discover who we are as Christians. The text discussed is "The Religious Sense" by Father Luigi Giussani. Becoming Catholic & Catholics completing their Sacraments: The OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults - formerly RCIA) is a process of initiation into the Catholic Community of Faith for persons who are experiencing a conversion in their lives and seeking either Christian baptism in the Catholic Church or full Communion with the Catholic Church and completion of the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation. Religious Education: On the day of your child's/children's Baptism, the Church pledged to you, the parents, our assistance in raising them in the practice of the faith to keep God's commandments as Jesus taught us, by loving God and our neighbor. Here at Immaculate Heart of Mary, our Religious Education Program is part of this integral formation in the faith that would include daily prayer at home, family participation in Sunday Mass (and on Holy Days of Obligation), periodic Confession, and the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy flowing out from your dinner table. The goal is to come to know Jesus in and through the Church, to know, understand and be able to explain our Catholic faith, and to live the life of Jesus through faith, hope and charity.
