My dear friends,
It is a pleasure to welcome Father Raja Reddy Pogula once again to IHM for the summer months! Father and his parishioners in India have been enduring extremely high temperatures this year. May it be a respite for him during his service in July and August. I appreciate the priestly assistance and fraternity he gives at IHM. Welcome back, Father Raja!
What a wonderful experience last Sunday's Sensory Friendly Mass was for both families who have special needs children and for those involved in this important service and apostolate. Thank you to Emily Theisen for coordinating it and all who served that afternoon, especially John Larkin and the Parish Council who kept the coffee and donuts going!
We have set a tentative date for Sunday, September 8, 2024, at 2pm for our next Sensory Friendly/Special Needs Mass.
The care and dedication of so many of our parishioners for the Social Ministries of our parish is inspiring. The way it helps build up the parish and the community is beautiful. After a successful weekend of the Social Ministries Good Will Donation Event, and the number of items still available, it was decided to extend it to this weekend, too!
Among summer opportunities for the youth, do take a look at the CYO Volleyball Clinic that our parish has organized. Registration ends soon.

IHM Social Ministry Good Will Donation Event
Sunday, June 30th after every Mass in the Lower Church
On Sunday, June 30th, IHM's Social Ministry volunteers will again be sponsoring a Good Will Donation event to raise funds for our Social Ministries Account that helps those in need, as well as our various Social Ministries (MIDNITE RUN, HOPE, FOOD PANTRY & more). Once again thank you very much to all who donated, volunteered and purchased items!
Sunday, June 30, 2024 | Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time | Mark 5:21-43
Friends, the centerpiece of today’s Gospel is Jesus healing the hemorrhaging woman. Having a flow of blood for twelve years meant that anyone with whom she came in contact would be considered unclean. She couldn’t, in any meaningful sense, participate in the ordinary life of her society.
The woman touches Jesus—and how radical and dangerous an act this was, since it should have rendered him unclean. But so great is her faith that her touch, instead, renders her clean. Jesus effectively restores her to full participation in her community.
But what is perhaps most important is this: Jesus implicitly puts an end to the ritual code of the book of Leviticus. What he implies is that the identity of the new Israel, the Church, would not be through ritual behaviors but through imitation of him. Notice please how central this is in the New Testament. We hear elsewhere in the Gospels that Jesus declares all foods clean, and throughout the letters of Paul we hear a steady polemic against the Law. All of this is meant to show that Jesus is at the center of the new community.

- On Thursday, July 4th and Friday, July 5th Mass will only be offered at 9:00AM followed by Holy Hour from 9:30-10:30AM. All other times for adoration and prayer will be suspended and will resume on Monday, July 8th.
- On Thursday, July 4th, and Friday, July 5th all Parish Offices will be closed in observance of the Independence Day Holiday.

- IHM ONLINE GIVING with WeShare will let you make a one-time donation or set up a recurring donation. When you become a recurring donor, it allows IHM to fund essential ministries and appropriately budget our needs for the future.
- READ WEEKLY IHM BULLETIN ONLINE to stay connected to IHM Parish. Also, find Parish information on our website: IHM-PARISH.ORG.
The generosity of the IHM family has been overwhelming and, as a result, the recent Midnight Runs have been a wonderful success! Our next Run will be in a few weeks and we are targeting the following to replenish our inventory:
- Men's pants waist sizes 30-34 and all lengths; men's and women's sweatpants sized small, medium, large, and extra large; men's sneakers sizes 9 thru 13; women's sneakers sizes 7 thru 9; rain ponchos, all sizes.
- Please note that we only distribute gently used or new items. So, as you pull your summer wear forward in your closets, please consider Midnight Run if something doesn't strike your fancy anymore! Even if a donation cannot be used for a Run, we will have a home for it - there is much need in the NY metro area!
One of the easiest but most critical ways to contribute is helping with the food prep before each Run. Anyone who would be interested in that effort please email ihmmidnightrun@gmail.com so we can add your name to the distribution list. We are also seeking new people to join us on the actual Runs, thank you!
IHM Religious Education 2024-2025 Registration is NOW OPEN
On the day of your child's/children's Baptism, the Church pledged to you, the parents, our assistance in raising them in the practice of the faith to keep God's commandments as Jesus taught us, by loving God and our neighbor. Here at Immaculate Heart of Mary, our Religious Education Program is part of this integral formation in the faith that would include daily prayer at home, family participation in Sunday Mass (and on Holy Days of Obligation), periodic Confession, and the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy flowing out from your dinner table.
IHM Religious Education Registration for the 2024-2025 school year for grades Kindergarten through 8th Grade opened on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. Registration, including credit card payment, is completed online and is on a first-come-first-served basis.
Returning Families should sign in to www.parishgiving.org to register. You should have received an email to remind you of your username.
New Families, those who did not have a child enrolled in 23-24, must complete a New Family Registration Form to register a child(ren) for 24-25.

Public Square Rosary Rally
You are invited to a 2024 Public Square Rosary Rally on Saturday, July 6th at 12:00 noon. It will take place in the North Parking lot of IHM Church (by the Grotto). This year as we pray Our Lady’s Rosary and other prayers in her honor, we invoke her blessings on marriage and the family and for PEACE in America and in the world. This Rally is one of 20,000 rosary rallies, organized by America Needs Fatima, that will take place all over the United States. Please make an effort to attend. - Charismatic Morning of Renewal Meeting at the House of Prayer: This group meets on Thursdays after the 9:00AM parish Mass - Morning Prayer, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament with Intercessory Prayer and a discussion of the Scripture Readings for the coming Sunday.
- IHM School of Community: this group meets on Wednesdays at 7:00PM in the IHM Rectory Conference Room to look at our daily life and discover who we are as Christians. The text discussed is "The Religious Sense" by Father Luigi Giussani. If you are interested in attending via Zoom, please contact the Rectory and ask to be put in contact with Carolyn of School of Community.
- IHM Bible Discussion Group: The IHM Bible Discussion Group will reconvene after Labor Day to read the Book of Exodus. CLICK HERE for more details, to submit questions, or if you are interested in joining.
- IHM Troop 2 (Boy Scouts): this group welcomes 5th through 8th grade boys interested in outdoor adventure. - Health for Life Program (HeLP): Are you 55 or older with chronic conditions? If so, the free Health for Life Program (HeLP) offers you a sensible and enjoyable way to enhance your quality of life by showing you how to manage your chronic health conditions, such as high blood pressure, pain, depression and diabetes. HeLP follows a model developed at Stanford University’s School of Medicine. - Healing Weekend: This is a 48 hour overnight program held at the Dominican Conference and Retreat Center in Niskayuna, NY held on July 26th to July 28th. For information or to register, please call Gloria at (914) 261-5812 or Phyllis at (646) 281-4790.
- The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) offers services to persons age 55+. If you are ready to reenter the workplace, a wide range of jobs are available and the SCSEP Program is eager to assist you in preparing for a job and to direct you to job openings. Mature job seekers learn new skills, update current skills, and obtain skills to find a job. Training programs include computer, customer service, home health aide, and office skills. For more information and eligibility guidelines speak to a SCSEP Peer Counselor at the Urban League of Westchester at (914) 428-5850.
