The Church throughout
all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria was at peace.
It was being built up and walked in the fear of the Lord,
and with the consolation of the Holy Spirit
it grew in numbers.
My dear friends,
In the Easter Season we focus each year on the early Church community in the Acts of the Apostles, as well as Jesus in the Gospel of Saint John, and then His Beloved Disciple's Pastoral Letters and Book of Revelation. Our souls desire to be rooted and in communion with Jesus Christ so that we will not be without fruit in our lives, but properly pruned and able to produce the fruit that the Lord wants from us.
What kind of fruit would Jesus be talking about? The Church teaches that there are 12 Fruits of the Holy Spirit, Who is the Life of God within us: charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control and chastity.
Being branches on the Vine, who is Jesus Christ, would also certainly mean fulfilling the Corporal Works of Mercy and Spiritual Works of Mercy. Click on their names for the list and a good explanation of each one.
IHM's participation in the Apostolate of the Little Sisters of the Poor in the Bronx last week certainly fulfills a number of the Corporal Works and at least one Spiritual Work of Mercy. Thank you for your generous response!
Speaking of gratitude, thank you for your beautiful generosity to our Easter Collection and the Flower Memorials that goes to the Saint Veronica Guild to purchase the Easter Flowers and Flowers for the Sanctuary throughout the year. To all who have been preparing for tonight's Midnight Run and those who will get us out the door with food and by your presence - thank you! It has come to my attention that this year Midnight Run celebrates 40 years of service to the homeless of New York City. IHM Parish has been assisting for the past 20 years! Thank you to Paul Doyle and all involved in this great Corporal Work of Mercy!

Sustaining the love and life of our IHM Married Couples, and the Family you create with the help of God, are not easy but can benefit from some guidance, time for reflection and encouragement. Join our Archdiocesan Office of Family Life as they run The Marriage Course, a seven-week video series designed to promote discussion and growth between spouses on the topics of connection, communication, conflict resolution, forgiveness, family, sex, and acts of love. Four Seats Open for 2024 IHM Parish Council Elections -
Self Nominations Encouraged
All parishioners 18 and older are encouraged to join the IHM Parish Council. The Parish Council serves an important advisory role to the pastor on the life of the Parish.
We are looking for nominations of people from a broad spectrum of our Parish life who seek to be involved in the various goings on of the Parish, to build up our IHM community, and to contribute to the mission that Jesus has given us.
Please give some consideration for yourself or someone you know who would make a good candidate to run for elections and, if elected, serve up to 3 years. Previous candidates are encouraged to participate, as well as teens who are at least 18 years old by September 2024.

Sunday, April 28, 2024 | Fifth Sunday of Easter| John 15:1-8
Friends, our passage today is from the beautiful, evocative, and challenging fifteenth chapter of John’s Gospel. Jesus declares that he is the vine and we are the branches. He is the power and energy source in which we live. This vine and branches image is closely related, therefore, to Paul’s metaphor of the Body of Christ.
The point is that we live in him and he in us. Jesus is the source of supernatural life in us, and without him we would have none of it. If you are separated from the vine, you will die spiritually; if you are connected to it, you will live a supernatural life.
What does this mean concretely? It means a steady immersion in the prayer of the Church and steady communion with God, speaking to him on a regular basis. It means an immersion in the Scriptures and soaking in the truth of the Bible. It means engaging in the corporal and spiritual works of mercy.
And you must participate in the sacraments—especially Confession and the Eucharist. By the sacraments, we stay close to the Christ who forgives our sins and enlivens our spirits.

HOPE Community Soup Kitchen Needs your help!
We are looking for more volunteers to cook for the HOPE Community Supper Program. The need is greater than ever. Cooking is done at home and delivered to the Church, it is then picked up and delivered to HOPE Community Services in New Rochelle (www.hopecommunityservices.org).

IHM Religious Education 2024-2025 Registration
To enroll in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Religious Education Program a Family must be a registered Parishioner of IHM Church before the start of the new school season. If you need to register with the Parish or inquire about your IHM Parish Registration/Envelope status, please call the IHM rectory or click here to register.
Online registration for the 2024-2025 school year for children in grades Kindergarten through 8th will open on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 12 noon. (We encourage parents to register children in Kindergarten, but this is optional.) IHM Religious Education student registration, including credit card payment, is completed online. Registration will be on a first-come-first-served basis.
Weekly Classes: In-person classes will be held once a week on Mondays or Wednesdays in the late afternoon or early evening. Specific days and times per age group will be announced before registration opens.
Student Fees for 2024-2025: Tuition for the 2024-2025 school year will be announced before registration opens.
Online Registration for 2024-2025: IHM uses a registration system called Parish Giving. The system open for registration on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 12 noon.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION AT IHM
- IHM High School of Religion (HSOR): HSOR welcomes all high school students to our gatherings Wednesdays from 7:30-9:00PM in the Lower Church (next meeting is this week). We offer a fun and relaxing faith community of service projects, Prayer & Pizza, Game Nights, sacraments, lively discussions and Open Gym. - IHM Centering Prayer Group: The group meets on Wednesdays at 10:00AM in the Church Library. Newcomers are always welcome. Meetings last around 45-60 minutes. The format includes: 20 minutes of Centering Prayer (a silent prayer form in the Christian contemplative tradition in which we seek to open our minds and hearts to the Divine Life within), Lectio Divina (a prayerful reading of Scripture) and a brief discussion. - Charismatic Morning of Renewal Meeting at the House of Prayer: This group meets on Thursdays after the 9:00AM parish Mass - Morning Prayer, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament with Intercessory Prayer and a discussion of the Scripture Readings for the coming Sunday.
- IHM School of Community: this group meets on Wednesdays at 7:00PM in the IHM Rectory Conference Room to look at our daily life and discover who we are as Christians. The text discussed is "The Religious Sense" by Father Luigi Giussani. If you are interested in attending via Zoom, please contact the Rectory and ask to be put in contact with Carolyn of School of Community.
- IHM Bible Discussion Group: The IHM Bible Discussion Group meets every Tuesday night through mid-June from 7PM to 8:30PM in the IHM lower Church and are currently reading John's Gospel. Parishioners gather to read, analyze, and discuss Sacred Scripture while enjoying a little dessert and each other’s company. To make Bible Discussion more accessible at IHM and accommodate those unavailable on Tuesday night, there is a do-it-yourself-at-home option. - IHM Troop 2 (Boy Scouts): this group welcomes 5th through 8th grade boys interested in outdoor adventure.
