If you were hoping to catch the solar eclipse this past Monday, I hope it was an amazing experience for you! While I know that some of our parishioners headed upstate or to Vermont to experience the total eclipse, some of us camped out in the school parking lot with our glasses to take in the 90% eclipsing of the sun. Praise the Lord for an amazing universe that we have been blessed to live in and experience!
We welcome back Father Thumma this Sunday for the 10:30am and 12 noon Masses! Father participated in the Saint Paul Center for Biblical Theology's Priest Conference in Austin, Texas, this past week.
This Sunday we catch the end of the Emmaus encounter with the Resurrected Jesus in the Gospel of St. Luke. I am always moved by the Emmaus account of our Lord most kindly meeting, enlightening and transforming the dejected disciples, and how Jesus definitively reveals how all of the Law and Prophets of the Old Testament is fulfilled in Him!

This weekend please be aware that we are trying to get three committed adorers/people who want to pray to spend an hour each in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament each week. Our Parish Council is looking for nominations for the upcoming parish council elections.
This week we will have our HOPE Food drop-off for the soup kitchen, the Little Sisters of the Poor will come for their periodic begging for the good and holy work they do in serving the elderly and sick poor, and we are getting ready for Midnight Run later in the month.
For those who come to the 9am Family Mass this Sunday, not only do we hope to have the Children's Liturgy in the Lower Church, but at the initiative and generosity of Theresa and Jeffrey Nicholson, there will be Coffee and Donuts only after the 9am!
Next Saturday, April 20th, I look forward to greeting our IHM School Alumni from the 80s, 90s and 00s!

All parishioners 18 and older are encouraged to join the IHM Parish Council. The Parish Council serves an important advisory role to the pastor on the life of the Parish.
We are looking for nominations of people from a broad spectrum of our Parish life who seek to be involved in the various goings on of the Parish, to build up our IHM community, and to contribute to the mission that Jesus has given us.
Please give some consideration for yourself or someone you know who would make a good candidate to run for elections and, if elected, serve up to 3 years. Previous candidates are encouraged to participate, as well as teens who are at least 18 years old by September 2024.

IHM Religious Education 2024-2025 Registration
To enroll in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Religious Education Program a Family must be a registered Parishioner of IHM Church before the start of the new school season. If you need to register with the Parish or inquire about your IHM Parish Registration/Envelope status, please call the IHM rectory or click here to register.
Online registration for the 2024-2025 school year for children in grades Kindergarten through 8th will open on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 12 noon. (We encourage parents to register children in Kindergarten, but this is optional.) IHM Religious Education student registration, including credit card payment, is completed online. Registration will be on a first-come-first-served basis.
Weekly Classes: In-person classes will be held once a week on Mondays or Wednesdays in the late afternoon or early evening. Specific days and times per age group will be announced before registration opens.

Friends, in today’s Gospel, the risen Jesus appears to his eleven disciples. He does not appear as a Platonic soul, a ghost, or a hallucination. Instead, he can be touched and seen, has flesh and bones, and can consume baked fish. Against all their expectations, a dead man had returned, through the power of God, bodily and objectively, from death.
Even while insisting on this bodiliness and objectivity, we must not go to the opposite extreme. It really was Jesus, the crucified, who had returned from the dead. But he did not come back simply resuscitated to the confines of ordinary space and time. He was not, in a word, like Lazarus, the daughter of Jairus, or the son of the widow of Naim, all people who had been raised only to die again.
Instead, Jesus’ body is transformed and transfigured, independent of the strictures of space and time; it is, in Paul’s language, a “spiritual” body. And the point is this: he has triumphed over death and all that pertains to death. His resurrected body is a foretaste and promise of what God intends for all of us.

HOPE Community Services in New Rochelle

For the last 2 years, Paul Coschignano, a senior at Iona Prep and parishioner at IHM has been volunteering at the HOPE Community Kitchen serving meals to those in need, as he believes no one should have to go hungry. HOPE is a community organization in New Rochelle NY, providing emergency food services to all in the community. HOPE Community Services is a non-profit organization that services New Rochelle and the surrounding towns. HOPE’s food pantry is one of the largest in Westchester County and has the only Kosher pantry in the county. For his senior service project, Paul has chosen to run a food drive to help support their food pantry. Help Paul support this great organization!

HOPE Community Soup Kitchen Needs your Help!
We are looking for more volunteers to cook for the HOPE Community Supper Program. The need is greater than ever. Cooking is done at home and delivered to the Church, it is then picked up and delivered to HOPE Community Services in New Rochelle (www.hopecommunityservices.org).

Little Sisters of the Poor will be at IHM Next Weekend
Please join us in welcoming the Little Sisters of the Poor to our parish the weekend of April 20-21st. At the Jeanne Jugan Residence the Little Sisters offer a Home to needy elderly women and men. They depend on donations to care for them with love and dignity. Any assistance you can give will help them provide for the needs of the elderly entrusted to their care. Seasons of Hope: A Catholic Bereavement Series
Are you grieving the loss of a loved one?
The Church of St. Pius X is offering a six session faith-based catholic series for those in mourning. Seasons of Hope offers an opportunity to gather with others in a small group setting and to share in Gods love. With the support of the faith community, we give voice to our unique journeys of grief and find healing and spiritual growth. Seasons of Hope sessions explore our personal journeys of mourning through scripture, prayer, reflection, and faith sharing.
The Seasons of Hope series will take place Thursday, April 25th and will meet for six Thursdays through May 30th from 6:30-8:00PM
at St. Pius X Parish Pavilion (91 Secor Rd, Scarsdale)

Spring cleaning? While you are looking through your closets, please consider donating to Midnight Run as we transition into the warmer weather! Our next Run will be April 27th and we would greatly appreciate those items which don't fit or that you will no longer wear. Especially needed are: men's and women's travel size deodorant, men's jeans, men's shoes and sneakers, sweatpants, hoodies, rainwear, backpacks, shorts, T-shirts, women's sneakers and sweatpants.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION AT IHM
- IHM High School of Religion (HSOR): HSOR welcomes all high school students to our gatherings Wednesdays from 7:30-9:00PM in the Lower Church (next meeting is this week). We offer a fun and relaxing faith community of service projects, Prayer & Pizza, Game Nights, sacraments, lively discussions and Open Gym. - IHM Centering Prayer Group: The group meets on Wednesdays at 10:00AM in the Church Library. Newcomers are always welcome. Meetings last around 45-60 minutes. The format includes: 20 minutes of Centering Prayer (a silent prayer form in the Christian contemplative tradition in which we seek to open our minds and hearts to the Divine Life within), Lectio Divina (a prayerful reading of Scripture) and a brief discussion. - IHM School of Community: this group meets on Wednesdays at 7:00PM in the IHM Rectory Conference Room to look at our daily life and discover who we are as Christians. - IHM Bible Discussion Group: The IHM Bible Discussion Group meets every Tuesday night through mid-June from 7PM to 8:30PM in the IHM lower Church and are currently reading John's Gospel.
