Next Saturday, November 4th, IHM will have our annual Bereavement Mass of Remembrance at 8:30am for all those who died the past year from our parish. One person who would normally be a key coordinator of the Mass, the reception for families, as well as assisting with the sanctuary flowers and environment as part of the Saint Veronica Guild, we will be commending to the Lord Jesus today at a 9:45am Funeral Mass for Diana Casey. While certainly everyone who passed this past year leaves behind loved ones who mourn their loss, recently we have experience the loss of those who will be tremendously missed by various aspects of IHM Parish: Diana Casey at the 9am daily Mass, the Saint Veronica Guild, the sanctuary flower team and the IHM Choir; Frank O'Connor who was a special person at the Saturday Vigil Mass helping out with parishioners, setting up for Mass and locking up afterwards, and Rowland Miller, a long-time IHM lector and daily communicant. While we mourn their early loss, we commend them to our Heavenly Father in trust and hope in His mercy and in view of the Resurrection to Glory on the last day!
One of the reasons this bulletin is coming to you later than usual, is that IHM hosted an amazing evening last night - The Mozart Requiem! Maestro Justin Bischof conducted the Modus Operandi Orchestra (22 piece) and the Modus Singers (12 singers) brining this outstanding musical piece professionally to our community! Thank you to our Music Director, Dr. Laurie Adamo, for her wonderful idea to kick off an IHM concert series by collaborating with her friend and accomplished colleague Dr. Bischof! 300 plus people experienced last night a taste of Manhattan orchestral excellence right here at IHM! Thank you and bravissimi!
Please pray for our Confirmation Candidates today as they participate in their Retreat to prepare them for this important sacrament to complete their Christian Initiation! They will be there with their sponsors or another adult and we pray that the Holy Spirit may draw them more deeply to the love of Jesus Christ and His Father.
This week, Monday evening will be a Family Catechesis on the Saints in the lower church (open to all families with children) and there will also be a Finance Committee meeting (the first in almost a year since we switched to a new Accounting firm).
Have a blessed Eve of All Hallows - Halloween! Wednesday, November 1st is All Saints Day (all those in heaven, particularly those who are not official canonized saints), a Holy Day of Obligation. Religious Education classes are suspended this week and we will see everyone for Mass (or whatever Catholic Church or Mass time works for your families)!
Thursday, November 2nd is All Souls Day - all the faithful departed in Purgatory. Be sure to visit the graves of loved ones this November and pray for their eternal repose.
This Friday, November 3rd we look forward to our annual Wine and Cheese event - thank you Tracy Keelin for coordinating this Parish Council initiative and to your father for the mozzarella making and Tony Russo for the wines to taste from Aires Wines and Spirits of White Plains!
Next Sunday at the 9am Mass, I look forward to blessing our IHM CYO teams - Coordinator Greg Doyle, the coaches, players and families!

The Rev. John A. Keogh Council: C&B is the Charitable & Benevolent Raffle program the Knights of Columbus runs each year. It is their main fundraiser and they use those funds to help those suffering from floods, earthquakes and other natural disasters.
C&B raffles will be available after all Masses this weekend, October 28 & 29.

Friends, in today’s Gospel, Jesus names love of God and neighbor when a scholar challenges him to identify the greatest commandment.
Since love (caritas) is what God is, it is also that virtue that conforms us most dramatically to God. Thomas Aquinas says, in eloquently simple language, that caritas is friendship with God. In his great farewell discourse, offered the night before his death, Jesus says to his disciples that he no longer calls them servants, but friends—and in this he opens up a new world.

In any other religion, a human being could be called, vis-à-vis God, a creature, a penitent, or an eager supplicant, but only in Christianity could she be called an intimate of God. This is true because in Christ, God has become one of us, thereby establishing a parity beyond our capacity even to imagine.
The participation in what God is is what Aquinas means by caritas, friendship with God. The moral challenge, of course, is to live out the implications of that friendship, listening and speaking to God, obeying the promptings of his voice, opening one’s heart to him, and, above all, loving what he loves—which is to say, everyone and everything.

OPERATION CORNERSTONE
Bringing a little comfort to our troops
Operation Cornerstone will be collecting food items, toiletries and sundries to send to our soldiers who are serving overseas and will not be home for the holidays. We will be partnering with United For The Troops again this year, who will pick up the donations from IHM, package and then mail the boxes to the troops. Any monetary donations to help defray the cost of mailing the packages can be left at the rectory.
Suggested donations are:
Food: Pringles (snack size), Trail Mix, instant oatmeal, granola bars, power bars, nuts, Slim Jims, Beef Jerky, Pop Tarts, Easy Mac Microwave Cups, ramen noodles, tuna fish, canned chicken, spam, sardines, peanut butter (plastic only), jelly & jam (plastic only), cereals (individual size), chili, stew, pasta, soup, canned fruit (16 oz or smaller), gum & Lifesavers, coffee (1 lb or less), coffee filters, hot chocolate packets, tea (small boxes), drink mixes (single serve).

Our next Midnight Run is scheduled for December 2nd. We are very grateful for all donations but, as we head into cooler weather, our most needed items are backpacks, men's jeans/pants (up to waist size 42), gloves, scarves, baseball caps, and men's shoes/sneakers (esp sizes 9-13) and rain ponchos.
Our recent Runs were very successful and we found homes for ALL donated items! We thank everyone for their generosity. There is much need in this metro area and all donations help.

United Way of Westchester and Putnam
United Way of Westchester and Putnam is helping residents overcome the transportation obstacles that are hindering their lives. Its Ride United Transportation Access Program offers free Lyft rides to residents without access to a vehicle or public transportation. These rides can be used for non-emergency medical appointments, job interviews, workforce development training, court appearances, and other health and human service-related meetings.

- If you are calling for another person, please ensure his/her permission.
- Our parish will keep the name of a deceased parishioner or loved one for 2 weeks on our bulletin and Sunday Mass lists.

Comfort, & Peace to their bodies.
