I was blessed this week to attend part of the annual Archdiocese of New York's Pastors' Conference. The presentations are informative and it is very good to get together with other pastors and encourage one another!
One idea that was shared was an initiative to invite one person to Mass or back to Mass this year. For those of us who realize that we encounter Jesus in His Cross and in His Glory at Mass, we realize that we cannot live without the Eucharist. May other Catholics and those who do not yet share our faith come to that encounter and deep desire for Holy Communion with Our Lord!
Those adults interested in completing the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation in the Catholic Church, those who would like to join the Catholic Church, and those who would like to receive Baptism, please contact me at the Rectory (914-723-0276).
Our Midnight Run is a such a well oiled machine that enables us to personally touch so many in need in Manhattan and welcome new parishioners in various ways who would like to participate, donate and serve. Thank you to Paul Doyle and your incredible team of volunteers who donate, sort, categorize, make sandwiches, set up and those who are able to go down!
Thank you to all who witnessed and prayed during the Life Chain last week! We must never be complacent and "throw in the towel" no matter the seeming impossibility of the challenge to propose and create a "Culture of Life" in our State.
IHM's 2nd Annual Golf Outing was an incredible occasion this past Monday from the weather, to the camaraderie to the setting and all! Thank you to the Development Committee, particularly to Bobbi Roberts and her dedicated team of volunteers who made it all happen. The support given our parish school is essential!
Let's keep our Holy Father Pope Francis, Cardinal Dolan and all the Synod delegates in prayer this month.

Friends, just before his Passion and death, Jesus tells this striking story of the landowner who planted a vineyard. The fertile vineyard stands for Israel, his chosen people. But it could be broadened out to include the world. What do we learn from this beautiful image? That God has made for his people a place where they can find rest, enjoyment, and good work.
We—Israel, the Church, the world—are not the owners of this vineyard; we are tenants. One of the most fundamental spiritual mistakes we can make is to think that we own the world. We are tenants, entrusted with the responsibility of caring for it, but everything that we have and are is on loan. Our lives are not about us.
Christ is God’s judgment. We are all under his judgment. In the measure that we reject him or refuse to listen to him, we place our tenancy in jeopardy. And so the great question that arises from this reading: How am I using the gifts that God gave me for God’s purposes? My money? My time? My talents? My creativity? My relationships? All is for God, and thus all is under God’s judgment.

IHM Boy Scouts Troop 2 Scarsdale
Christmas Wreath Fundraiser
It is that most wonderful time of the year again! The Boy Scouts are launching their annual Christmas Wreath Fundraiser. The funds raised are used 100% to run the troop and provide the scouts with a robust program. The Scouts will be taking orders for fresh balsam wreaths, centerpiece, and crosses before and after all masses the weekend of October 14th and 15th. The expected delivery date for the wreaths this year is after all masses the weekend of November 18th and the 19th. Please support our Scout Troop and purchase a beautiful balsam wreath, centerpiece or cross!!
PUBLIC SQUARE ROSARY RALLY
You are invited to the 2023 PUBLIC SQUARE ROSARY RALLY on Saturday, October 14th at 11:30AM -12:00 noon. Will take place in the South Parking lot of IHM Church in Scarsdale . This year as we pray Our Lady’s Rosary and other prayers in her honor, we invoke her blessings on marriage and the family and on our country and the world, and especially for Peace in the Ukraine. This Rally is one of 20,000 rosary rallies, organized by America Needs Fatima, that will take place all over the United States. This is the Saturday closest to October 13th, the day the sun danced at Fatima Portugal. Please make an effort to attend. The Rosary Rally Captain is Priscilla Parameswaran (914) 441-8805. Please bring your lawn chairs and be there on time.

IHM CYO Basketball registration for the 2023/2024 season IS OPEN

Registration is open to all boys and girls grades 3-8 that are registered parishioners of IHM parish or students of either IHM School or the School of Religion.
Evaluations will begin in the IHM gym the week of October 9th. Days and times for each grade level will be announced prior to the start of evaluations, after we set the schedule. Information will be available on our website.

OCTOBER IS RESPECT LIFE MONTH
BABY ITEMS NEEDED!
A bassinette is set up in front of The Christ The King Altar and will be there for the entire month of October. Baby items needed: receiving blankets, undershirts and stretchies (6-18 months), diapers, disposable (newborn and next size up) clothing (6-18 months), baby wipes, formula. We are looking to expand the involvement of our parishioners in four important Liturgical Ministries:
- Altar Server - Grade 4 to college-aged
- Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion - Adult
- Lector - High School and older
- Usher - Adult
Please consider getting involved, your service will help our parish and offer you the opportunity to grow in a specific way in your faith. Support and training will be provided for all interested persons.

When you love someone, you want to be with them as much as possible. Our Lord loves us so much that He chooses to remain with us in the Holy Eucharist. Our nation is in the midst of a Eucharistic Revival, for the sole purpose of strengthening our faith in this gift of love – Jesus present Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity in the Most Blessed Sacrament.
As part of this revival, the Church in the State of New York will gather on October 20 – 22 at Our Lady of the Martyrs Shrine, located in Auriesville, New York, for a Eucharistic Congress. I encourage all in the Archdiocese of New York to attend the Congress, especially on Saturday, October 21st, which will feature a special Mass at 11 a.m. celebrated by Bishop Terry LaValley, followed by a Eucharistic Procession in the afternoon. In addition, there will be engaging speakers, lively music, opportunities for confession and eucharistic adoration, time to socialize, food available (although feel free to bring your own picnic), and so much more!

- IHM School of Community: this group meets on Wednesdays at 7:00PM in the IHM Rectory Conference Room or Library to look at our daily life and discover who we are as Christians. The text discussed is "The Religious Sense" by Father Luigi Giussani. - IHM Troop 2 (Boy Scouts): this group welcomes 5th through 8th grade boys interested in outdoor adventure.
