My dear friends,
A blessed celebration of our IHM parish's patroness - the Blessed Virgin Mary under her title of the Immaculate Heart of Mary! We are able to take this Saturday morning feast and celebrate it all weekend as a Solemnity since she is our patroness! Therefore, the Sunday readings will be different from the ones in the Missalette and in the Lector's workbook. Instead we will have the following Scripture:
First Reading from the Book of Judith 13:17-20; 15:9
Responsorial Psalm: The Almighty has done great things for me. (The Magnificat of Luke 1:46-55)
Second Reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Ephesians 1:3-6, 11-12
Alleluia Verse: (see verse at the top of the electronic bulletin)
Gospel: Luke 2:46-51 or 11:27-28
At the end of Mass, weather-permitting, we will all have the opportunity to process outside to the statue of the Blessed Mother for a brief prayer and hymn. BBQ with inflatable houses Saturday Vigil - Coffee and Donuts after all Masses Sunday. In the case of inclement weather, we will be in the lower church.
If you have not yet had an opportunity to join with Catholic faithful through the United States to pray a Litany to the Sacred Heart of Jesus (the Solemnity we celebrated yesterday, June 16th) in reparation for sins, please see the write-up and link below.
Congratulations to all our parishioners who graduated this season! It is a blessing to welcome back from college and grad school all our parishioners these months of May and June.
We are particularly proud of and give thanks to God for the IHM School Class of 2023, who graduated this past Thursday eve! This past week we had a chance to celebrate with our school faculty and staff and even found out that our school's Religion Teacher for grades 5-8 was taught by our dear Sister Rose (Sister Philip Dolores), NY Sister of Charity, when she was at Saint John's in White Plains just a few years ago! Our parish school finished its year on Friday, June 16th - all the best for a wonderful summer!
For the wonderful Sunday celebration of Mass with Father Carlos Germosen at IHM June 4th and the parish reception downstairs - thank you Mrs. Tracy Keelin and the Saint Veronica's Guild for organizing such a beautiful parish return!
Know that Deacon Vincent Castaldi was ordained at Dunwoodie in Yonkers on June 3rd! He sent a Thank you note to the parish for our gift:

Although Monday is a Federal Holiday and our IHM Offices will be closed, we will have our normal Mass schedule (6:45am and 9am), with Adoration (7:15am-9pm) and Rosary at 7:30pm.

A blessed Father's Day to all fathers and grandfathers! Our Novena of Masses (9) will remember Fathers both Living and Deceased this week and their names will be kept on our altar until the end of June. We will have a small token of our appreciation for your fatherly presence in a bookmark with helpful Scripture references for the challenges of life, and it comes with a pen. Have a blessed day and may God our Heavenly Father grant you much consolation, strength and joy in your sacred vocation to be fathers!

A good father is an immeasurable gift and something our world is in need of today. Join us in praying for all fathers this Father's Day...
- For our biological fathers on earth--that God protects and blesses them with the strength necessary to live their vocation and role as a father well
- For our biological fathers who have passed from this life--that they may be living in the presence of Jesus in heaven.
- For our priests, Cardinal Archbishop, Auxiliary Bishops and Pope--that Jesus blesses them with joy and courage to fully live out their vocation as spiritual fathers to their flock.
- For all those who play a fatherly role in our lives--that St. Joseph helps them to lead, instruct, and live as examples of holy men
Whether you have a beautiful or a broken relationship with your own biological father (or any father figures in your life), you can always turn to God our Father, and to St. Joseph, the head of the Holy Family for comfort and guidance throughout your life.
If you're a father in any capacity, ask St. Joseph to guide you in your role. He was the foster father of Jesus Christ--he raised the Savior of the world! There's no better example of an earthly father than him!
The position of St. Joseph as husband and foster father gives witness to the dignity of fatherhood.

FOR EXPECTANT MOTHER CARE
Thanks to all who picked up a bottle for our Baby Bottle collection. Each year this simple collection raises thousands of dollars for Moms and children – with all profits going to support Expectant Mother Care (EMC) in its mission to help mothers and families in crisis pregnancies.
Please remember to fill your bottles with coins and/or checks and return them to IHM on Father’s Day, June 18th. Please make out your checks to Expectant Mother Care. Your generosity saves lives. Thank you for your support!

Thanks to the wonderful generosity of parishioners, IHM school, the School of Religion and the High School of Religion, the Midnight Run on the weekend of June 3rd/4th was a big success! However the need remains great and we ask that you please target these items for the next Run in late July:
Men's jeans of all sizes but particularly waist sizes 34 and 38 with inseams between 30 and 34; men's sneakers between sizes 10 and 13; baseball type caps; travel size shampoo and deodorant; and blankets.
Legatus is an international non-profit organization that brings together business leaders and their spouses at a monthly meeting to help them balance faith, family and business. The chapter will host Mass at IHM on Tuesday, June 20th at 5:30PM.

IHM Religious Education
2023-2024 Registration
On the day of your child's/children's Baptism, the Church pledged to you, the parents, our assistance in raising them in the practice of the faith to keep God's commandments as Jesus taught us, by loving God and our neighbor.
Here at Immaculate Heart of Mary, our Religious Education Program is a part of this integral formation in the faith that would include daily prayer at home, family participation in Sunday Mass (and on Holy Days of Obligation), periodic Confession, as well as the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy flowing out from your dinner table.
Online registration for the 2023-2024 school year for grades Kindergarten through 8th Grade opened on Wednesday, June 6, 2023. All returning families were emailed registration instructions. New families to our program can find the link to the registration form on our website.
In-person classes are held once per week. This 2023-2024 Class schedule will not be based on School District, as in previous years, and will offer more flexibility for parents. Registration will be on a first-come-first-served basis.

Attention – IHM Class of 1972
The Class of 1972 is finalizing plans for our 50+1-year reunion, which will be Saturday, June 24 in the IHM auditorium after 5:30 Mass. An email with the details will be sent out shortly to everyone on our contact list, and will also be posted on our Facebook page (IHM Class of 1972). - IHM Women's Prayer Group: Weekly prayer gatherings for women are offered each Thursday from 7:00-8:00PM in the Church Library. For more information, please contact the Rectory (914-723-0276 or ihmchurch@ihmscarsdale.org).
- HSOR: is "a night out in the middle of the week!" Some of our activities are: prayers and pizza, scavenger hunt, faith on film, basketball and more! Meetings will resume later this September 2023!
- Bible Discussion Group: on the Gospel of Matthew: This will be the last Tuesday gathers before the summer break. June 20th Mass in the Church/Chapel at 7pm followed by discussion in the lower church on Matthew Chapter 28 (The Resurrection Narrative). This last discussion will finish the Gospel According to St Matthew after a six month study by 20 parishioners. The Bible Discussion Group will take a break during the summer months and resumes the first Tuesday after Labor Day to discuss the Gospel According to St. Mark for 16 weeks leading up to Christmas.

- The Centering Prayer Group meets on Wednesday's at 10:00AM in the Church Library. Newcomers are always welcome. Meetings last around 45-60 minutes. The format includes: 20 minutes of Centering Prayer (a silent prayer form in the Christian contemplative tradition in which we seek to open our minds and hearts to the Divine Life within), Lectio Divina (a prayerful reading of Scripture) and a brief discussion. - Boys 11 to 17 are invited to Join Immaculate Heart of Mary Boy Scout Troop 2 Scarsdale. We are looking to expand the involvement of our parishioners in four important Liturgical Ministries:
- Altar Server - Grade 4 to college-aged
- Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion - Adult
- Lector - High School and older
- Usher - Adult
Please consider getting involved, your service will help our parish and offer you the opportunity to grow in a specific way in your faith. Support and training will be provided for all interested persons.

- St. Vincent's Hospital Westchester Program Updates: Evening addiction treatment program adds telehealth option in the evening outpatient addiction recovery program. Group sessions Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30PM to 7:30PM. For more information, please call (914) 925-5320 or visit www.stvincentswestchester.org. Also, St. Vincent's summer program for adolescents with substance misuse issues offer support for adolescents aged 13-18 who may be experimenting with substances, or who are struggling with significant substance misuse. - The Serra Club of the Bronx and Westchester cordially invites you to its monthly luncheon meeting. Fr. Peter Pilsner, Spiritual Director to Cardinal Spellman High School on Wednesday, June 28th at 12noon at Eastwood Manor, 3371 Eastchester Road, Bronx. The luncheon consists of fruit, pasta, salad, entrée, dessert, bread, wine, soda, coffee and tea. The cost is $42 per person. - Sts. Peter & Paul and St. Ursula Church in Mount Vernon are looking for a part time secretary. General secretarial duties include answering phones, ordering supplies, updating calendar, answering the door and managing Mass requests. Monday – Friday, 4.5 hours per day from 8:30AM to 1:00PM. The pay is $450 weekly. Medical benefits not included. After three years, qualify for pension benefit enrollment. Interested applicants should call or email Fr. - Legal Assistant Position - Life Center Annex - there is currently a Legal Assistant position open at our Life Center. If you or if you know of anyone interested, please submit or have them submit a resume and cover letter. The candidate must be able to read, write and speak Spanish. The Legal Assistant provides direct case management support to the immigration attorney. This is a full-time position up to 40 hours per week with regular weekend work. Flexibility is required as needed. For consideration or to make a referral, please submit a cover letter and resume to apesce@rshmeap.org.
