My dear friends,
This weekend we welcome back to IHM one of the newly ordained priests of the Archdiocese of New York, Father Carlos Germosen! He will celebrate the 10:30am Sunday Mass, followed by First Priestly Blessings in the lower church. There will be a reception for all. Thank you to Tracy Keelin for organizing this important parish celebration along with all those who are assisting you!
This Sunday the Church focuses our Liturgy on the most central and fundamental Mystery of our Faith - that God is a Trinity of Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit! It is appropriate that our Golden Jubilarians celebrating 50 years of Marriage will be with His Eminence, Cardinal Dolan, at Saint Patrick's Cathedral celebrating the gift of God meant to image this Trinitarian communions of life and love! We look forward to recognizing these special couples and others in the Fall at IHM.
Please pray for Seminarian Vincent Castaldi, who is to be ordained a Deacon at Saint Joseph's Seminary in Yonkers this morning! Vincent spent his 2021-22 pastoral year with us at IHM.
IHM welcomes back Father Raja Pogula for the months of June and July!
Our Parish Council Elections have been extended through this weekend and will be announced next weekend. To all parishioners 18 years and up (two teens will be appointed to represent the high school ages) - Please either vote online through the link below or by paper ballot at the church this weekend!
IHM will move to our usual Sunday summer Mass schedule only for July and August through Labor Day Weekend. Last year we kicked in a month too early...and learned for 2023!
Father's Day weekend this year will also be our parish's Patronal Feast Day of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Please join us for a brief procession to the outside Blessed Virgin Mary statue at the garden, as well as a BBQ Saturday eve and some coffee and donuts after the Sunday Masses.
On Tuesday, June 20th, I will celebrate Mass at IHM for the local chapter of Legatus. It may be a wonderful Catholic organization a number of you, our IHM parishioners, may wish to explore for your good and the good of the Church.

- Legatus members exemplify the faith in their business and personal lives, and are a powerful lay ministry in building up the Catholic Church, aligned with the teachings of the Magisterium.

I will be away from this Sunday afternoon, June 4th until June 12th giving a retreat to the postulants on the verge of becoming novices of the Religious Sisters of Mercy of Alma, Michigan. I worked with the RSM Alma Sisters in Rome for a few years, particularly at the Holy See's English language Sunday Mass. Please forgive me for being unable to be present for the Solemnity of the Lord's Body and Blood (Corpus Christi), as well as our School's Pre-K and Kindergarten graduations. I will be back for our IHM School's 8th grade graduation events!

on his Ordination to the
Sacred Order of the Priesthood
on Saturday, May 27th at St. Patrick's Cathedral!

The Archdiocese of New York welcomed four new priests on Saturday, with the Mass of Priestly Ordination held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Manhattan.
Pews in the center of the Cathedral were filled with non-participating clergy members, along with family members of the ordinandi, as the ordained are known, and other well-wishers for the two-hour ceremony.
A long line of concelebrants preceded Cardinal Timothy Dolan towards the altar.
“This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it,” Cardinal Dolan said, welcoming those in attendance and commencing the Mass, a theme to which he returned repeatedly during the ceremony.
Readings were done in both English and Spanish.
“This is the day for an archdiocese that has prayed so hard and long for new, ordained laborers in the vineyard,” said Cardinal Dolan in his homily.
Cardinal Dolan and the concelebrants individually laid hands on each of the ordinandi,
The four declared their intentions to join the priesthood before those in attendance. Each took vows of obedience and chastity. Cardinal Dolan anointed each of the four with chrism, consecrated oil.
Cardinal Dolan laid hands upon each of the ordinandi, reciting the prayer of ordination and conferring the Holy Spirit upon them. The concelebrants then individually laid hands on each of the four.
The newly ordained also received and donned their stole and chasuble, the principal garment of the priest celebrating the Eucharist. Having been ordained, the four then joined as concelebrants of the Mass.
At the conclusion of the Mass, in a particularly moving gesture, Cardinal Dolan asked the four new priests for their first blessing and knelt before them to receive it.

Midnight Run welcomes donations all through the year especially as seasons change. There are collection boxes at all entrances of the Church and donations can also be given to the rectory.
Our next Run will be this eve, June 3rd and we are once again in need of backpacks, men's jeans (waist size 30 to 40), men's sneakers (size 9 thru 13), men's short-sleeve shirts and light long-sleeved shirts for summer wear (sizes small thru XL), women's tops (small thru XL), gently used baseball caps, shampoo, and deodorant.

GOLDEN JUBILEE WEDDING MASS
AT ST. PATRICK'S CATHEDRAL
The Golden Jubilee Wedding Mass at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral on Sunday, June 4th, at 2:30PM. The Mass will be celebrated by His Eminence, Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan. Reservations are closed at this time. All Golden Jubilee couples will receive a commemorative certificate. To those who have already registered for the Golden Jubilee Wedding Mass: Seating in the cathedral is limited. Seating for the Jubilee Mass will begin approximately 2:00PM. Pews will be reserved for Golden Jubilee couples only. Up to two (2) additional family and friends will be accommodated in pews outside of the reserved section in general seating.

Friends, today’s Gospel gives us the famous assurance that God gave his Son that we might have eternal life.
There is a terrible interpretation of the cross that holds the view that the bloody sacrifice of the Son on the cross was “satisfying” to the Father, an appeasement of a God infinitely angry at sinful humanity. In this reading, the crucified Jesus is like a child hurled into the fiery mouth of a pagan divinity in order to assuage its wrath.
What eloquently gives the lie to this awful interpretation is today’s passage, which is often proposed as a summary of the Christian message. God the Father is not some pathetic divinity whose bruised honor needs to be restored; rather, God is a parent who burns with compassion for his children who have wandered into danger. It is not out of anger or vengeance that the Father sends the Son but precisely out of love.
Does the Father hate sinners? No, but he hates sin. Does God harbor indignation at the unjust? No, but God despises injustice. Thus God sends his Son not gleefully to see him suffer but to set things right.

Our Girl Scouts participated in the Scarsdale Memorial Day Parade. The IHM Boy Scouts were in attendance as well. It was such a nice tribute to our soldiers!
The Catholic Church dedicates the month of June to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. You may have heard the phrase "the Sacred Heart of Jesus", but what does it refer to and why is it important?
Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a devotion to the humanity of Jesus Christ. This month, we take time to remember his love and real suffering for us. The Sacred Heart is a symbol of mercy and an invitation to trust in Christ's mercy.

What are ways you can practice devotion to Jesus' Sacred Heart?
Here are some ideas:
- Display an image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in your home as a constant reminder of Jesus' love. You can also set one as the lock screen or home screen photo on your phone.
- Attend a Holy Hour or adoration and spend some time in prayer in the true presence of Jesus.
- Go to Confession (it does not matter how long it has been since your last Confession!)
- Learn the Daily Offering prayer (below), and say it every day.

Dear friends in the Lord:
Parishes across the country are preparing to collect an offering for the Church in Latin America and The Catholic Home Missions Appeal on June 11. I ask for your support with these vital requests.
In Latin America, because of generous people like you, many pastoral projects are reinforced both there and in the Caribbean. For the past fifty years, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops [USCCB] has helped 25 countries in Central and South America, and the Caribbean confront challenges to the faith and raise people from poverty.
Your aid to the Catholic Home Missions will assist in making a difference in the lives of our brothers and sister right here in the United States by strengthening the Church in our own backyard. Four out of ten dioceses in the United States and its territories are considered "home mission" dioceses with small Catholic populations, limited financial resources, vast and often difficult terrain, and a shortage of priests and religious. Despite the challenges, the communities continue to grow in faith to serve God and neighbor and form the next generation of faithful disciples.
I count on your usual generosity again, and thank you for your donation of $250,910 in 2022 which was divided equally between the two concerns.

2023-2024 Registration
On the day of your child's/children's Baptism, the Church pledged to you, the parents, our assistance in raising them in the practice of the faith to keep God's commandments as Jesus taught us, by loving God and our neighbor.
Here at Immaculate Heart of Mary our Religious Education Program is a part of this integral formation in the faith that would include daily prayer at home, family participation in Sunday Mass (and on Holy Days of Obligation), periodic Confession, as well as the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy flowing out from your dinner table.
Online registration for the 2023-2024 school year for grades Kindergarten through 8th Grade has already opened on Thursday, June 1, 2023. IHM Religious Education student registration, including credit card payment, is completed online.
In-person classes are held once per week. This 2023-2024 Class schedule will not be based on School District, as in previous years, and will offer more flexibility for parents. Please review see the schedule below. Registration will be on a first-come-first-served basis.

To register for the Immaculate Heart of Mary Religious Education Program a Family must be a registered Parishioner of IHM Church prior to the start of the new school season. If you need to register with the Parish or inquire about your IHM Parish Registration/Envelope Number, please CLICK HERE.
All new registrations require a copy of your child's baptismal certificate. Grades older than first grade require proof of previous religious education, and copies of First Communion and First Penance records (grades 3 - 8).
Student Fees for 2023-2024:
The tuition for the 2023-2024 school year will remain the same as the previous two years: $380.00 for 1 child and $495.00 for 2 or more children. There is a $50 Sacrament Fee for First Holy Communion and a $125 for Confirmation students. Registration is due on or before July 1, 2023. Placement in a class is not guaranteed if registration is received after July 1. Registrations received after August 1, 2023 will be charged a $50 late fee.

Thanks to all who picked up a bottle for our Baby Bottle collection. Each year this simple collection raises thousands of dollars for Moms and children – with all profits going to support Expectant Mother Care (EMC) in its mission to help mothers and families in crisis pregnancies.
Please remember to fill your bottles with coins and/or checks and return them to IHM on Father’s Day, June 18th. Please make out your checks to Expectant Mother Care. Your generosity saves lives. Thank you for your support!

- The Centering Prayer Group meets on Wednesday's at 10:00AM in the Church Library. Newcomers are always welcome. Meetings last around 45-60 minutes. The format includes: 20 minutes of Centering Prayer (a silent prayer form in the Christian contemplative tradition in which we seek to open our minds and hearts to the Divine Life within), Lectio Divina (a prayerful reading of Scripture) and a brief discussion. - Boys 11 to 17 are invited to Join Immaculate Heart of Mary Boy Scout Troop 2 Scarsdale. Do you want to canoe, camp, go white water rafting, rock climb, repel . . . all while using life skills like first aid and CPR? Then come try us out! - Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion - Adult
- Lector - High School and older
- Usher - Adult

- RSVP of Westchester -For half a century, RSVP of Westchester -- an affiliate program of AmeriCorps Seniors hosted by Tarrytown-based nonprofit Volunteer New York! -- has blazed a trail for ensuring people 55 and older in our region find meaningful volunteer work. Organizations and institutions including Family Services Society of Yonkers and the Wartburg Adult Care Center, among many others, rely on our network of seniors and retirees for everything from youth mentorship to supporting older adults as they age in place. And in turn, volunteers maintain vital connections to their communities even after their professional life has wound down. - Children’s Memorial Mass: On Saturday, June 3rd at 11:00AM, join St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church (1377 E. Main St., Shrub Oak, NY), for our 28th Annual Children’s Memorial Mass where we join together to bear one another’s burdens and pray to God for comfort, strength and renewal. If your child’s name has never been submitted for inclusion in this Memorial Mass, please call our parish office, (914) 528-3547. Light refreshments will be served after the Mass.
- Holy Rosary Church (170 Bradhurst Ave, Hawethorne, NY) is holding their Annual Bazaar/Festival on June 15, 16, 17 (rain date June 18) from 6:00PM - 11:00PM. There will be rides, music, games, food and much more. All are welcome!
