Our parish had an amazing community evening last Saturday with the visit of His Eminence Cardinal Dolan for the Vigil Mass and the Gala celebrating the 95th Anniversary of our IHM School as we honored JoAnn Murphy (posthumously) and Theresa Vaccaro Nicholson! Allow me a moment this weekend after the homily to say a few words about the Annual Cardinal's Stewardship Appeal as we conduct our "in-pew" weekend during the Lenten Season.
I am looking forward to attending this evening (a little late, after the Vigil Mass concludes) the CYO Basketball end-of-the season dinner!
Coffee and Donuts is being planned after the 9am Sunday Mass this weekend! Thank you to the Nicholsons!
I encourage all men of the parish to take advantage of the Men's Retreat next weekend - Fr. Justin Cinnante, O.Carm., will give you an incredible weekend to bring you closer to Jesus!
To all the women of the parish who are seeking some time to enter more deeply into Lent, please join me at the Saint Veronica's Guild Morning of Recollection. We will begin at 9:00am in the Church with Mass and then head down to the lower church for coffee and donuts, a conference, lunch and then a closing conference with questions. It is a time of reflection and friendship. It should wrap up around 1:00pm. More information is below. Please register with the Rectory by this Monday, March 6th.
On the weekend of March 25th and 26th, the IHM Parish Council is organizing a Parish Ministries Fair to showcase all of the organizations and opportunities for service at our parish. It will be held in the lower church and available after all the Masses on Sunday and the Saturday Vigil Mass. Please take time to check out all the possibilities and get involved in a deeper way!
After talking about it for too long, later this month we plan to begin taking pictures for parish families, couples and individuals, as well as all parish organizations, with the goal of compiling a new IHM Directory. Details to follow!
The three Holy Oils that we use for Baptism, Confirmation and Anointing of the Sick at IHM are blessed each year by our Archbishop, Cardinal Dolan, at the "Chrism Mass". Ours is held on Holy Tuesday (April 4, 2023 at 4:00pm). If there are any parishioners who would be interested in attending this unique Mass at Saint Patrick's Cathedral in NYC (transportation would be on your own), please contact the Rectory and leave your name and the number of tickets you would like. We will try to obtain them for you. At this Mass all of your priests renew our priestly commitment.
This past week, Mrs. Laura Covais, our Coordinator of Religious Education, and I met with most of our Catechists to offer them some time of Professional Development and a chance to be together outside of classes. After seeing the intense nature of the yearly schedule, it will be good to pause for a week in the Fall and a week in the Winter/Spring to minister to our Catechists who do so much to assist parents in the faith formation of the children of our parish.
"There's no place like home!" I write this article after attending the IHM School's musical: The Wizard of Oz. It was an amazing and incredible production - I am so proud of all the students who acted in the iconic musical and served on stage crew! In a particular way I would like to thank Mrs. Ashleigh Jack and her husband, Mr. Josh Jack, who inspired and led a dedicated team of volunteers to make it all happen.
"There's no place like home!" - absolutely, and I thank God that my home is with you at IHM! A blessed Sunday!

Friends, today’s Gospel celebrates the Transfiguration.
Christ came not just to make us nice people or morally upright folks, but rather to give us a share in his divine life, to make us denizens of heaven, people capable of living in that new environment.
What gave the first Christians this conviction? The answer is the Resurrection—and the great anticipation of the Resurrection, which is the Transfiguration. This ordinary Jesus somehow became transformed, elevated, enhanced in his manner of being.
The first thing we notice is that his appearance becomes more beautiful. These somewhat grubby bodies of ours are destined for a transfigured, elevated beauty.
Secondly, in his transfigured state, Jesus transcends space and time, since he is talking with Moses and Elijah. In this world, we are caught in one moment of space and time, but in heaven, we will live in the eternal now of God’s life.
Have you ever noticed that even as we appreciate all that is wonderful about this life, we are never really at home? There is a permanent restlessness about human life. But a higher, richer, more beautiful and spiritually fulfilling life awaits us.

The Our Lady of Angels Parish (Bronx) Raffle for the Father Thomas Lynch School for Disabled Children being built was a success! Several members of our IHM Parish purchased a total of 100 tickets and contributed a total of $1,000 in one week. Thank you to all who purchased tickets, especially parishioner Margaret Pilson, who won the $100 3rd place prize, which she generously donated back to the cause!
Father Joseph Franco, Pastor at OLA, and the Missionaries were so grateful and appreciative for our help and hope the school building will be completed by August.

IHM Midnight Run - Donations Needed
Our next Midnight Run will be on Saturday, April 1st. Items needed most are new or gently used men's hoodies and sweatpants (sizes medium or large), backpacks for storage, and gently used or new men's sneakers/running shoes (sizes 9-12). The toiletry bags also need to be refurnished with travel size men's deodorant and toothpaste.

The Retreat Chaplain will be Fr. Justin Cinnante, Chaplain of Iona Prep High School (and former Chaplain of Archbishop Stepinac High School).
The Retreat will begin with dinner on Friday evening at 6:00PM at the Don Bosco Retreat Center and conclude Sunday at 12noon. The cost of the retreat is $250 and includes two nights of single occupancy rooms and all meals. Registration can be confirmed by mailing a $30 deposit (check to I.H.M. Sixty years after Vatican II, we are now living in "the era of the heirs" to the Council. How are we "living the legacy" of Vatican II at this time in history, and how can today's parish carry forward that legacy creatively as we walk into the future together?
Rita Ferrone is an award-winning writer and frequent speaker on issues of liturgy and Church renewal in the Roman Catholic tradition. Coming from a background in parish and diocesan ministry, she is currently a contributing writer to Commonweal magazine and Give Us This Day. She is an author of several books, including Liturgy: Sacrosanctum Concilium, in the Paulist series, Rediscorvering Vatican II. Her most recent book, A Pastoral Commentary on Desiderio Desideravi, will be released by Liturgical Press in the fall. A native of NYC, Rita lives in Mt. Vernon, NY.

We are looking to expand the involvement of our parishioners in four important Liturgical Ministries:
- Altar Server - Grade 4 to college-aged
- Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion - Adult
- Lector - High School and older
- Usher - Adult
Please consider getting involved, your service will help our parish and offer you the opportunity to grow in a specific way in your faith. Support and training will be provided for all interested persons.

- IHM Women's Prayer Group: Weekly prayer gatherings for women are offered each Thursday from 7:00-8:00PM in the Church Library. For more information, please contact the Rectory (914-723-0276 or ihmchurch@ihmscarsdale.org).
- HSOR: IHM High School teens in grades 9 through 12 will gather again on Wednesday, March 8th at 7:30pm at the parish. HSOR is "a night out in the middle of the week!" Some of our activities are: prayers and pizza, scavenger hunt, faith on film, basketball and more!
- Bible Discussion Group: on the Gospel of Matthew: Tuesdays from 7:00 - 8:30 PM in the lower church. Refreshments served. The group is discussing the Gospel According to St. Matthew. If you have any questions, please call Tom & Rosemary Roche at (914) 725-1148.
- Charismatic Prayer Meeting at the House of Prayer: On Mondays at 7:30PM in the Chapel & Thursdays of Prayer after the 9:00AM parish Mass.
- College Evenings: Following our last gathering this past week, we are looking forward to an Easter gift project. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, March 22nd @ 7:00pm in the Rectory (8 Carman Rd). Pizza, salad and drinks will be provided. All college-aged parishioners are welcome! - The Centering Prayer Group meets on Wednesday's at 10:00AM in the Church Library. Newcomers are always welcome. Meetings last around 45-60 minutes. The format includes: 20 minutes of Centering Prayer (a silent prayer form in the Christian contemplative tradition in which we seek to open our minds and hearts to the Divine Life within), Lectio Divina (a prayerful reading of Scripture) and a brief discussion. - Boys 11 to 17 are invited to Join Immaculate Heart of Mary Boy Scout Troop 2 Scarsdale. Visit Boy Scout Troop 2 in the IHM lower Church (201 Boulevard, Scarsdale) on Thursday evenings at 7:30PM. Do you want to canoe, camp, go white water rafting, rock climb, repel . . . all while using life skills like first aid and CPR? Then come try us out!
