My dear friends,
Thank you for all your prayers. I experienced a mild case of Covid and will be out of isolation on Sunday. At my doctor's direction I will wear a mask for the next few days when celebrating Mass. It is ironic that when I arrived at IHM two years ago, I had to undergo a period of quarantine coming from overseas. This past week sure brought me back to thoughts of that introduction to the parish! Thank you Fr. Thumma and Fr. Jeevan for taking wonderful care of me!
Consider joining the Rosary Rally today at 12 noon at the outside garden statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary. October is the perfect month to seek our Spiritual Mother's intercession and to get back into the habit of praying a daily Rosary.
Our target date is Monday, November 7th, for increasing the hours of Eucharistic Adoration at IHM! To do that we need your support, commitment and sign-up. Please allow a few words of encouragement from Christian Rudloff at Mass this weekend and consider taking an hour.
I hope the new roll-out for Mass Intentions for 2023 is going smoothly and enabling a cross-section of the parish to get a couple of the most important dates for their families. It is a testament to the faith of IHM, and your belief in the eternal efficacy of the Mass, that we have so many people looking to have Masses offered for loved ones each year!
Loving both mother and the unborn child -
Find your part in promoting Respect for Life this month. There are many opportunities and do not let this month go by without committing.
- 40 Days for Life offers prayer, fasting and even witnessing outside places of abortion.
- The wonderful IHM tradition of placing a baby crib at the Christ the King Altar soliciting baby items for new mothers in need that the Sisters of Life have welcomed.
- All of us can benefit from continuing education, particularly on the status of things here in New York State and what we can do to help women avoid an abortion and save and nurture a life.
This past Wednesday, Fr. Thumma, Mrs. Laura Covais and Mrs. Nancy Vericker had an opportunity to speak with the parents of the Confirmation students. It is such a moment of grace as these young people prepare to complete their Sacraments of Initiation as Catholics and to become Jesus' witnesses in the world.
Next week we will have their enrollment at the 5:30pm Vigil and 10:30am Choir Masses!
Also next week, there will be an opportunity in the lower church to view and purchase artifacts from the Holy Land to help support the struggling local Christian community in the Middle East. Perhaps you may find some good Christmas gifts and a chance to offer some timely charity!
October 24th is the IHM Development Committee Golf Outing! It will help build IHM Community and support our IHM Parish School. Hope to see you there!
Please welcome to the 12 noon Sunday Mass this weekend, Msgr. Anthony Frontiero, a priest of the Diocese of Manchester (New Hampshire), who serves as Vice Rector and Director of Human Formation at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg (Maryland). Monsignor is in town for a family Baptism and it is a pleasure to welcome him to IHM!
A blessed Sunday to you and yours!
