Monday is the Memorial of the Queenship (or Coronation) of the Blessed Mother in Heaven. We have a beautiful stained glass window in the Marian Chapel of this moment in the life of the ever-Virgin Mary. Do stop by to see it right near the entrance door to the chapel!
Make sure to block on your calendars for our annual Parish Picnic on Sunday, September 18th from 1-4pm at Davis Park! Very soon, an opportunity to sign-up will be sent out so that we can properly prepare for a wonderful chance to be together as a parish. Do pray for good weather!
I am very heartened by the concrete expressions of charity from our parish that continue throughout the summer: ECAP School Supplies Drive, IHM Food Pantry, HOPE Soup Kitchen and the Midnight Run! Thank you to all who are involved in organizing and in sharing your time to help out!
The First Reading this Sunday from the Prophet Isaiah describes that through Israel, the Lord will reach out to all the nations and languages to preach His glory and to draw people back to Jerusalem as a pleasing offering to God. Some of these Gentiles would even become priests and Levites!
We believe that this passage is fulfilled with Jesus sending out His Apostles into the whole world. For many of us or our ancestors, this world-wide evangelization brought our families into the Church, the new and heavenly Jerusalem in order to make of us a pure sacrifice in our persons to God. We can continue to bring the words of the Prophet Isaiah alive by inviting others to the Church or by responding to the movement of grace in your heart to join oneself to the Catholic Church.
The process for brining this divine desire and movement of the Holy Spirit to fruition is called the Order (Rite) of Christian Initiation of Adults - RCIA. We also have a process for Teenagers; whereas children in elementary or middle school work through the Religious Education Office.
A new season of the RCIA process will be starting this Fall after Labor Day - stay tuned and let us know who may be interested!
Fr. Thumma has gone for some well-deserved time with family and friends back in India. He will return mid-September.
Fr. Jeevan, after some encouraging, has returned to Rome for 10 days to celebrate with the Church Universal his uncle, Archbishop Anthony Poola of Hyderabad in India, being made one of the new Cardinals by Pope Francis on August 27th! Congratulations, Fr. Jeevan, to your Uncle!

Sunday, August 21, 2022 | Twenty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time | Luke 13:22-30
Friends, our Gospel for today features a question that people have been asking from time immemorial and that they still ask today: “Lord, will only a few people be saved?” Heaven, hell, salvation, damnation, who will be in and who will be out? We have remained fascinated with these questions for a long time.
Here’s how I would recommend we approach this issue. The doctrine concerning hell is a corollary of two more fundamental truths—namely, that God is love and that we are free. Love (willing the good of the other) is all that God is. He doesn’t go in and out of love; he doesn’t change his mind; he’s not loving to some and not to others. He is indeed like the sun that shines on the good and bad alike, in the words of Jesus.
No act of ours can possibly make him stop loving us. In this regard, he is like the best of parents. However, we are free. We are not God’s marionettes, and hence we can say yes or we can say no to his love. If we turn toward it, we open like a sunflower; if we turn from it, we get burned.

Thank you to all the parishioners for your generous donations of school supplies for ECAP. Thanks to students, Connor Bochenski, Megan DeMeo, Daniella Forgliano, Giselle Lese, Brenden Richmond, Oliva & Madeline Velez with the assistance of Deborah Bracken, Teresa DeMeo & Renne Velez for sorting & packaging these items for several days. Megan DeMeo, Brenden Richmond, Teresa DeMeo & John Larkin for bringing the donations from the lower Church to the cars. Thanks to drivers, John Larkin, Teresa DeMeo & Natalie diTargiani 25 bags/boxes were delivered on Wed. August 10th to ECAP in Tuckahoe. IHM Food Pantry Students also helped Deborah Bracken sort food donations in IHM Food Pantry. Thank you for making this drive a success!
2022-2023 IHM Religious Education Registration for Grades K-8 is Now Closed
Student registration IHM Religious Education for 2022-2023 is now closed. The staff is currently working hard to place each registered student in a class and prepare materials for the beginning of the school year. If you have missed the registration window, and you need to enroll your child(ren), please contact Laura Covais, Coordinator of Religious Education, at IHMSOR@IHMSCARSDALE.ORG. Please keep in mind, all students are required to complete all eight years of religious education in order to receive all of their sacraments.

Our Food Pantry is in need of the following nutritious foods: canned fruits, dried fruits, fruit cocktail, peanut butter, canned meals, such as spaghetti and meatballs, noodles, rice, dry/hot cereals, jelly, crackers, dry milk packets, juice boxes, cookies, Jell-O, puddings macaroni & cheese and canned tuna.
Sundry Items – Paper toweling, toilet tissue, shampoo, toothpaste, soap.
To ensure food safety, we cannot use: unlabeled cans, glass containers, perishable foods or expired items.
The Archbishop Adult Confirmation Program is designed for adult (18+) Catholics seeking the sacrament of Confirmation, who have been baptized, have received their first Holy Communion, and have been educated in the Catholic faith through Catholic Schools or religious education programs.
The Archbishop Adult Confirmation Program will present an overview of the essentials of the Catholic faith. Through presentations, group discussion, reflection and prayer, the sessions will cover Sacred Scripture and Tradition, the Creed, prayer and spirituality, the Church, Catholic social teaching and the meaning of the sacrament of Confirmation.

A Widower’s bereavement support group will be held at the St. Kateri Catholic Center (24 Sloan Rd., Newburgh) on consecutive Tuesdays: September 13, 20, 27, and Oct 4, and 11 - from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. - Bereavement Center of Westchester (BCW )Tree House: The Tree House is a Safe Haven for Children, Teens and Families Who Have Lost Loved Ones The Tree House was created to be a place of comfort and healing specifically for families with children that have experienced the death of a parent or sibling. We offer peer support groups designed for children (ages four to eighteen), as well as a separate group for the parent(s) or guardian(s). The goal of the Tree House program is to bring families together as they go through the process of grieving. This program creates a safe and caring environment where both adult and child receive the special attention needed to move through the pain of grief toward hope and healing. This program is offered free of charge; however, we do invite families to make a tax-deductible contribution.
