My dear friends,
A blessed and Happy Father's Day this weekend! Fathers, God bless you as you strive to be ever more present to your children, and in serving, teaching, providing, guarding, protecting and sacrificing yourselves for your families. Never be afraid to pour out your joys and struggles to our Heavenly Father and receive from Him the Spirit you need to meet new challenges (
cf. Ephesians 3:14-21). Through the intercession of Saint Joseph, may the Lord grant you courage, prudence and wisdom to live your God-given mission!
At the end of the 10:00 AM Sunday Mass, there will be a Eucharistic Procession inside the Church for us to honor and celebrate this important Solemnity in our Faith.
Calling all parishioners to join in our Parish Feast Day June 25th and 26th! All Masses will end with a procession to the outside garden grotto statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary (weather permitting). For the Saturday Vigil, there will be food to follow (thank you to Mrs.Tracy Keelin for organizing this event and arranging the bounce houses for the children to have some fun! And thank you to Tracy's father, Mr. Vincent Piscopo, who will be cooking the sausage and peppers, hot dogs for the younger crowd and pretzels (a free-will donation will be accepted). For the Sunday Masses, coffee and donuts will be available after the Processions (thank you Mrs. Theresa Nicholson for organizing and expanding this great Family Mass tradition for our parish's special day!). In case of inclement weather, we will use the lower church for the various events. Please join us and celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary!
This past Thursday, our
IHM School held its graduation and wished the Class of 2022 well as they move on to high school! I would like to thank Mrs. Tracy Keelin, with her dedicated team, for all they do to lead our School, bringing together in Catholic Education our faith, solid academics, attention to the whole person, engaging activities and a family environment with an infectious spirit and enthusiasm! This past school year just flew by, and it has been incredibly intense due to A well deserved break to all teachers, students and families - may you get true refreshment in mind, body and soul this summer.
To all graduates of the Class of 2022, who will be graduated this season from Scarsdale, Eastchester and all other communities in our parish and all high schools and universities - Congratulations!! May you know that our loving God created you for a reason. Open yourselves up to the Providence of God that He has a plan for your life and that Jesus Christ promises to be with you life-long, particularly as you face life's new challenges.
Welcome home, Paul Asaro, after winning the Gold Medal in the 1,000 meter free swim and the Silver Medal in the Triathalon during the 2022 Special Olympics this month in Orlando, Florida!! Congratulations on a job well done after months of practice and hard work!
This week (Monday through Friday) I will be headed to Anaheim, California for an Alumni Reunion of the Pontifical North American College (the US Bishop's Seminary in Rome). The Diocese of Orange (the former Crystal Cathedral) will host us at the
Christ Cathedral Campus.
I am attending because I was recently elected the Executive Secretary of the association and am excited to help our group begin a new chapter, post-Covid. Be assured of prayers for IHM when we visit the Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano!
A blessed Solemnity of the Lord's Body and Blood and have a great Father's Day!
