My dear friends,

This past Thursday, Fr. Jeevan arrived from Rome. A priest from India, Father will assist Fr. Thumma and me during the the summer months through September. Please introduce yourself to Fr. Jeevan should you see him - he is eager to get out and around!

This Sunday the Church celebrates the Most Holy Trinity and next Sunday the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ. The latter, traditionally called in Latin, Corpus Christi, is the 2022 date when our Catholic Bishops in the United States have asked us to begin a three year process for Eucharistic Renewal in the Church. For Corpus Christi, some appropriate internal procession and adoration will be offered at IHM. It is also Fathers' Day. More details to follow.

Saturday, June 25th (and for us also Sunday, June 26th) IHM will celebrate our Patroness, the Immaculate Heart of Mary. All Masses that weekend (Saturday Vigil and Sunday) will conclude with a procession to the statue of the Blessed Mother outside at the garden. Saturday evening we will have food and some fun things for the younger folk. Sunday will be coffee and donuts after each Mass - all to help us celebrate our Parish's Patronal Feast day!

Today, let's pray and cheer on IHM's very own Paul S. Asaro, who informs me that he won the 1,000 meter open water swim the other day, and today (Saturday, June 11th) will be the Triathlon at the Special Olympics in Orlando, Florida this week!!

To our IHM parishioners who have just been graduated from College, High School and Graduate schools - congratulations on your accomplishments! Graduates, may you trust in God's Providence for you and follow the lead of the Holy Spirit in your lives.

Just a day ago our IHM School had some very wonderful Pre-K 3, two Pre-K 4 and Kindergarten Graduations - they were most cute and heartwarming! 8th grade to graduate this coming week.

Please be aware that on Wednesday, June 15th, the School will have its annual Spirit (Field) Day held in our North (School) Parking Lot. Limited parking on Carman for those unable to walk from the South Lot will tried to be secured for the 9am Mass and Adoration times. .

Do join us for Sr. Nancy's third of three presentations on the Holy Spirit - the Call to Evangelization and Mission! It is this morning at 9:30am in the school auditorium. Refreshments served and a chance for Questions and Discussion will be available.

Monday evening, June 13th, our Parish Council will meet and bid farewell to some departing members and welcome six new members! Thank you all for your service to IHM!

This July IHM will offer a two week Summer Musical Theatre Program - more information is below!

Parish Patronal Solemnity

Our parish will do a Parish Patronal Solemnity on Saturday, June 25th and Sunday, June 26th, Solemnity of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Saturday at the 5:30pm Vigil Mass - will conclude with a Procession followed by food and fun things for youngsters.
Sunday after the 3 Masses will conclude with a Procession to the outside statue of the BVM followed by coffee and donuts outside (inside in case of inclement weather).

The Most Holy Trinity

"I believe in God." But ... what IS God?

"God is love," St. John tells us. As Catholics, we also believe that God is three persons (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit), and yet ONE. This is a great mystery, one that we can never comprehend fully or exhaust while here on earth.

Christianity's strange and startling claim is that God is love. It's not what he does, it's who he is.

This is what we mean when we say God is a Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one God in three persons. Check out this video by Bishop Barron for more info:

Collection for the Church in Latin America: Today, we will take up the Collection for the Church in Lain America. Your gifts to the Collection will fund catechesis, marriage and family life programs, and seminarian education in Latin America and the Caribbean. By funding these programs, the support you give today will provide seeds to grow the faith for years to come.

The Catholic Home Missions Appeal: Many dioceses right here in the United States do not have enough priests and trained lay ministers to serve their parishes. The dioceses are known as home missions. The Catholic Home Missions Appeal will take place this weekend to support these dioceses by funding essential ministries, including seminary education and lay ministry training. Please be generous in this Appeal and share your resources to strengthen the Church at home.

Pray With Us: Public Square Rosary Rally

You are invited to a PUBLIC SQUARE ROSARY RALLY on Saturday, June 18th at 12 noon. It will take place in the North Parking Lot of IHM Church in Scarsdale by the Grotto of Our Lady.

This year as we pray Our Lady’s Rosary and other prayers in her honor, we invoke her blessings on marriage and the family and on our country and the world. This Rally is one of 20,000 rosary rallies, organized by America Needs Fatima, that will take place all over the United States. This Rosary Rally is in honor of The Sacred Heart of Jesus. Please make an effort to attend. The Rosary Rally Captain is Priscilla Parameswaran, phone number 914-441-8805. Please bring your lawn chairs and be there on time.

Please note: in the event of inclement weather we will have the Rally inside the Chapel from 12:00 noon to 1:00pm.

IHM MUSICAL THEATER PROGRAM

SUMMER 2022

IHM will be hosting a Musical Theater program this summer in our School Auditorium and Lower Church Hall. The 9-day program is open to children entering grades 3 to 8 in the Fall.

The program will be run by Lizzie Connelly, a graduate of IHM school and a current College student. Lizzie has years of experience in theater productions and as a children's camp counselor, but most of all she has the energy and passion to make this a fun and engaging program for your children.

If your child is interested in joining the IHM Musical Theater Program this summer, please complete the form below. We will contact you with the details and a request for payment at a later date.

HOPE COMMUNITY SOUP KITCHEN

NEEDS YOUR HELP!

We are looking for more volunteers to cook for the HOPE Community Supper program. The need is greater than ever. Cooking is done at home and delivered to the church, it is then picked up and delivered to HOPE Community Services in New Rochelle (www.hopecommunityservices.org).

HOPE Community Services in New Rochelle is in need of the following art supplies for their summer program: Paint, markers, crayons, color pencils, easel paper, slime ingredients, construction paper. Summers are difficult times for groups to commit to going on Runs - we may be the only Run out on the 9th - so it's wonderful that this team is able to put one (or two) together over the summer. Thanks!

We're in decent shape for supplies, although our inventory of men's pants and sneakers are due for a replenishing. If you're looking for a way to support, check your closets or take a run over to a Goodwill Store or Walmart and drop donations of men's jeans/pants at the rectory.

The next Run after this will likely be late summer. Give some thought to drives you might be able to willing/able to do to replenish our inventories for the fall and winter runs. It won't be too long before we're thinking of hoodies and warmer clothes again. Socks, underwear, sneakers and (always) pants.

Religious Freedom Week 2022: Life and Dignity for All The days from June 22 (the feasts of St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More) to June 29 (the feast of Ss. TEEN FOCUS

No one wants to talk about it. Now the second leading cause of death among people between the ages of 14 and 22, suicide is usually preventable, but not if we can’t even say the word.

To help parents recognize the warning signs and communicate with their children — to prevent tragedies and save lives — the Family Life Office of the Archdiocese of New York has sponsored “Hope and Action,” a live webinar covering topics such as how to create a safe space to talk with your teen, warning signs, what to do if those signs are critical, how to plan for safety, and God’s unconditional love for all.

CATHOLIC NEW YORK TO PUBLISH

LAST ISSUE NOVEMBER 17, 2022

Catholic New York, the biweekly newspaper of the archdiocese of New York will publish its final issue November 17 as the archdiocese moves toward unveiling a new digital communication’s program that will begin in late 2022 or early 2023. The New York Catholic Center in Manhattan, is the home base of Catholic New York since it was founded by Cardinal Terence Cooke in September, 1981. The closure will bring to an end one of the most successful and well-honored diocesan publishing operations.

They gave their all to the mission of providing readers with important Catholic news, information and opinion that would help shape their lives and serve as a voice of unity for a diverse and sprawling archdiocese. Catholic New York still reaches more than 100,000 readers. In recent years, the paper’s digital edition has also reached a growing audience of Catholic New Yorkers as well as others across the nations and the globe. The decision to install the digital program would enable the archdiocese to better compete in today’s media environment. The initiative, offered through the archdiocese’s marketing department, will combine video, articles, photography and social media in a fast-paced new format.
