My dear friends,
To all married couples, especially those who enjoy the grace of the Sacrament of Marriage, a blessed World Marriage Sunday to you! Thank you for your witness in our Church and in our society of God's faithful, loving presence. Thank you for being to your child(ren) a concrete presence of God's love to them so that they may know how deeply they are loved by Jesus and our Heavenly Father as you form them to be the young men and young women God created them to be. Thank you for all you do to deepen your communion, reflecting the communion of God the Holy Trinity, especially in three words that Pope Francis reminds of often: Please, Thank you and Sorry.
Following from the ending of the State mask mandate and in accord with the Archdiocesan guidelines, mask requirements in the Church are lifted for everyone; those who wish to continue to wear a mask may do so at their discretion. To accommodate all of our IHM parishioners at Mass, the Marion (Adoration) Chapel will be reserved for only wearing masks and we ask that those seated in the social distance area continue to wear masks.
Know that the Archdiocese of New York issues certificates in the Spring/Summer to couples celebrating Silver, Gold and higher Jubilees. At IHM we look forward to recognizing and praying with our parishioners who have those and other anniversaries once again this Fall. Please contact the Rectory for further information.

The parish received a beautiful thank you letter from the Little Sisters of the Poor for IHM's generosity - $5,789 - to the residents of their home in the Bronx! They will remember us in their prayers.
This week we support the Holy See through the Peter's Pence Collection. In addition to Pope Francis' Charities, such donations support the process to appoint the two new Auxiliary Bishops of New York due to all that takes place at the level of the Papal Nunciatures (Embassies) as well as at various offices of the Vatican. Thank you for your consideration of this act of communion with our Holy Father and the works of the Universal Church.
March 5th, the First Saturday of March and of Lent, we will sponsor a Holy Name Society Men's Day of Recollection (virtual) as well as an in-person kick-off to the Lenten 40 Days for Life Campaign to pray for an end to abortion in our area (please see information below). I hope that IHM will be able to commit to a weekly hour of prayer on site in White Plains during these 40 Days. Consider being a part of these initiatives!
After an amazing NFL Playoff Season, let's hope this year's Super Bowl will not disappoint on Sunday!

Pray With Us: Public Square Rosary Rally TODAY
You are invited to the 2022 PUBLIC SQUARE ROSARY RALLY on Saturday, February 12th at 12 noon. It will take place in the North Parking Lot of IHM Church in Scarsdale by the Grotto of Our Lady.
This year as we pray Our Lady’s Rosary and other prayers in her honor, we invoke her blessings on marriage and the family and on our country and the world. This Rally is one of 20,000 rosary rallies, organized by America Needs Fatima, that will take place all over the United States. This is the Saturday closest to February 13th, the day the sun danced at Fatima Portugal. Please make an effort to attend. The Rosary Rally Captain is Carol McAvoy. Please bring your lawn chairs and be there on time.
Please note: in the event of inclement weather we will have the Rally inside the Church from 12:00 noon to 1:00pm.
WORLD MARRIAGE DAY
World Marriage Day, Sunday, February 13th honors and affirms the vocation of husbands and wives and the positive impact of their dedicated example on our society, families, communities, Church, and nation. Each year on World Marriage Day, the Archdiocese of New York celebrates the “Longest Married” couples in the Archdiocese.

PATHWAY TO A BLESSED MARRIAGE
A weekend retreat for married couples based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. This retreat offers you an opportunity to reflect together on God’s plan for your lives, renew your marital love and deepen your spiritual intimacy.
This retreat is offered by the Regnum Christi movement and includes reflections on marriage with opportunities for reconciliation, spiritual dialogue, couples time and adoration. The program is designed to give couples concrete tools to help deepen their understanding of themselves and their relationship, and the opportunity to have conversations that help a marriage flourish.

RETROVAILLE
Our office supports the efforts of Retrouvaille (“rediscovery”). Retrouvaille is a weekend program with follow-ups for couples whose marriage is in serious difficulty. If there is little or no meaningful communication, or if you are considering separation or divorce, we believe Retrouvaille can help.
The program offers the chance to rediscover yourself, your spouse and a loving relationship. It has a proven track record in saving marriages. It is a Catholic-based program open to people of all faiths.

WORLDWIDE MARRAIGE ENCOUNTER
Marriage Encounter is a positive, private experience for married couples who want to revitalize their marriage. The weekend is designed to enrich and deepen the joys a couple share together and is beneficial to couples of all ages and years married.
“BE LIGHT” MARRIAGE RENEWAL DATE NIGHT SERIES
Join other Catholic couples in the Archdiocese of New York, and from around the country for a FREE virtual date night series! This 5-part virtual marriage enrichment and renewal series features five couples who will share very real tips for renewing your marriage during this unique time in our lives. This is our time as married (or engaged) couples to shine and be the light to those in our homes and communities.

Family Life: Prayer Service for
Divorced/Separated Individuals
The Family Life Office is sponsoring a Prayer Service for Divorced and Separated individuals from the archdiocese on Saturday, March 5th at St. Joseph's Seminary (201 Seminary Ave., Yonkers). Cardinal Dolan will preside.
Our program begins with morning prayer and a reflection by Cardinal Dolan. His Eminence will share his message of comfort, hope, healing and joy for those present.
Light refreshments will be available before and after the prayer service. Archdiocesan and Family Life staff will be available to answer questions and provide resources about issues and topics such as convalidations and annulments, along with information on the Family Life Office’s programs and ministries.

In late December, 2020, a powerful earthquake about 30 miles from the Croatian capital of Zagreb killed seven people and caused widespread destruction. In solidarity with the many people left homeless, Pope Francis donated to Caritas Croatia through the Vatican’s Dicastery for Promoting Human Development. Within five days of receiving the donation, Caritas Croatia purchased and took delivery of 100 temporary housing modules for people displaced in the disaster. The donation allowed Caritas to purchase an additional 100 modules to meet the tremendous ongoing need.
Your contribution to the Peter’s Pence Collection funds not only the activities of the Roman Curia that assist the pope in the exercise of his ministry but also solidarity projects that aid those most in need, like the support to Croatia described above. 2022 Catholic Schools Week was a successful one indeed! We celebrated everything about The Immaculate Heart of Mary School! We learned the 5th Graders are actually smarter than the adults in the building, who our future Religion experts are, how strong our middle school students are in math (and how truly amazing it is watching their minds work as they figure it out), and finally, seeing our faculty /staff come play basketball against the 8th graders in front of the best fans ever! Our students also had their confessions heard by Father Thumma and Msgr. Sweeney.
We closed the week with a school wide Mass, bringing us together to celebrate all the reasons why we attend IHM. Throughout the week, our students took part in 4 different service projects. We collected over $1,000.00, plus an additional $1,000.00 from 7th grader Annina Bulfamante, who led the school wide initiative for raising money to purchase clean water wells in South Sudan. Our families donated dog and cat toys, food, beds, etc for the Yonkers Animal Shelter, and brought in many goods to create Blessing Baskets- which will be delivered to Scarsdale and
Eastchester Police, fire and EMT headquarters. Lastly, our students collected soil from their homes and created cards for our troops overseas so they can have a little bit of home with them while they are protecting our freedom.
Thank you to our families, our students, faculty , staff and Monsignor Sweeney for a fun filled week! Gob Bless our school!

Are you happy?
Isn't that what everyone is ultimately seeking, whether through money, pleasure, fame, or comfort? Happiness?
This is what Jesus means by "Blessed" (beatitudo = happiness!) But what strange terms by which we are happy in the Beatitudes: when we are poor, mourning, insulted, ridiculed, and hated. Seriously, Jesus? But only by detaching from our worship of money and status and comfort do we have the ability to operate in the freedom of God—to truly be full of the divine life of grace and be filled, be whole, and be happy.

Explore the possibility of a calling to the priesthood through Cathedral Prep, a program to introduce high school boys to the priesthood in a positive, no-pressure environment. Spend one weekend every other month at St. Joseph Seminary, hanging out with seminarians and priests, learning to pray more deeply, and most importantly learning to look up and listen for God’s call. - High School of Religion: Our next meeting of IHM's High School of Religion (HSOR) will be by Zoom. The next will be on Wednesday, February 16 from 7:30-8:15PM. HSOR will not meet on Wednesday, February 16 due to Winter Break. HSOR will meet in person for Ash Wednesday at the 7:30pm Mass in the Church and receive blessed ashes that evening. When we get back to a normal schedule, we normally meet at the Church on Wednesday evenings from 7:30-8:45PM. HSOR is "A night out in the middle of the week!" Some of our activities are: prayers and pizza, scavenger hunt, faith on film, basketball & more!

- Spread the word! IHM Class of 1976 Reunion: The Class of 1976 is starting to plan a class reunion for Saturday, April 23, 2022. The tentative agenda is to hold a Mass followed by a dinner/cocktail party with music and lots of reminiscing.
