With the Church in the United States please join in prayer and sacrifice today for the legal protection of unborn human life.
We welcome the Little Sisters of the Poor to IHM this weekend for them to beg for the support they need as they care for the elderly poor.
This Sunday the Catholic Church gives special attention to the Word of God, who is Jesus Christ. It is a good yearly opportunity to grow in our appreciation for the Scripture readings at Mass and maybe a time to dust off our Bibles at home so that we can get to know and love Jesus better.
We are also in the middle of an annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Jesus prayed at the Last Supper that his disciples would all be one, reflecting the oneness between Jesus and the Father. May the Lord's grace draw all Christian into deeper unity through faith, hope and charity.

This Sunday afternoon until next Saturday, I plan to be away in upstate New York for some skiing with family and then the burial of my Aunt Pat in New Jersey next Saturday. Her funeral was in Michigan in December.

"The Promise is Fulfilled"
God is a Father who keeps his promises and wove together a powerful story that would connect the Old Testament to the New, culminating in the death and resurrection of his Son for our salvation.
From the Old Testament, we hear today how Ezra the priest gave comfort to the people of Israel: "Today is holy to the Lord. Do not be saddened this day, for rejoicing in the Lord must be your strength!" (Neh 8:8-10). Jesus, standing firmly in the tradition of the great teachers, priests, and prophets of Israel, reads from the scroll of the prophet of Isaiah in his hometown of Nazareth:

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,

Jesus then utters the strange and disturbing words: "Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing."
How will we respond to the call and the demands of Christ today?
"If Joseph was so engaged, heart and soul, in protecting and providing for that little family at Nazareth, don’t you think that now in heaven he is the same loving father and guardian of the whole Church, of all its members, as he was of its Head on earth?"

At Jeanne Jugan Residence the Little Sisters offer hospitality and care for 100 needy elderly men and women. They depend greatly on charity to carry on their mission to the aged and infirm. Any assistance you can give will help them provide for the needs of the elderly entrusted to their care. You may also donate using WeShare through the Little Sisters Bronx website. Pray With Us: Public Square Rosary Rally
You are invited to the 2022 PUBLIC SQUARE ROSARY RALLY on Saturday, February 12th at 12 noon. It will take place in the North Parking Lot of IHM Church in Scarsdale by the Grotto of Our Lady.
This year as we pray Our Lady’s Rosary and other prayers in her honor, we invoke her blessings on marriage and the family and on our country and the world. This Rally is one of 20,000 rosary rallies, organized by America Needs Fatima, that will take place all over the United States. This is the Saturday closest to February 13th, the day the sun danced at Fatima Portugal. Please make an effort to attend. The Rosary Rally Captain is Carol McAvoy. Please bring your lawn chairs and be there on time.
Please note: in the event of inclement weather we will have the Rally inside the Church from 12:00 noon to 1:00pm.
Seminary to host Lecture on
‘The Historical Jesus’
Msgr. John Meier, a renowned scholar of Sacred Scripture will deliver “The Historical Jesus: An Overview” on Thursday, February 3rd, at St. Joseph’s Seminary Prayer Hall in Dunwoodie. Presented in conjunction with the Seminary’s 125th anniversary celebrations, the public lecture begins at 7:30pm following a 6:30pm reception.

Search Seeks Longest-Married
Couple in Archdiocese
The Archdiocesan Family Life Office is seeking entries for its annual longest-Married Couple Search for couples living in the Archdiocese of New York and married sacramentally for 65 years or more.
The Family Life Office conducts the search each year in conjunction with World Marriage Day, which takes place on the second Sunday of February each year, to honor longstanding Catholic couples who exemplify what is good about the sacrament of Holy Matrimony. The winning couple will be determined by how long the couple is married as of World Marriage Day, February 13, 2022.

- High School of Religion: Our next meeting of IHM's High School of Religion (HSOR) will be by Zoom on Wednesday, January 26 from 7:30-8:00PM, respecting Mid-Term time After things calm down, HSOR normally meets in the Lower Church on Wednesday evenings from 7:30-8:45PM. We invite all high school students to come and see the HSOR is "A night out in the middle of the week!" Some of our activities are: prayers and pizza, scavenger hunt, annual Christmas Party, faith on film & more! Basketball will now be available in the gym after meeting!
- Forming a new parish young family group: Any father or mother of a young one who would be interested in some weekly prayer and socializing with other parents of young child(ren), please contact the rectory (ihmchurch@ihmscarsdale.org or 914-723-0281).
- Spread the word! IHM Class of 1976 Reunion: The Class of 1976 is starting to plan a class reunion for Saturday, April 23, 2022. The tentative agenda is to hold a Mass followed by a dinner/cocktail party with music and lots of reminiscing. - The College Evenings: After meeting for a discussion on prayer with some food after the Immaculate Conception evening Mass this past week, our next gathering will take place after students return from finals - date TBD! - Beginning Experience of the Hudson Valley is inviting men and women of all ages who have suffered the loss of a spouse through death, divorce or separation to: Coping With Life Alone - a multi-session remote (only) program held on Sundays from 1:00PM-4:30PM beginning January 30th. - The Saint Pio Foundation, based in Tuckahoe, NY, seeks candidates for the roles of Part-Time Administrative Assistant and Social Media Coordinator. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite is required for both positions. Spanish and/or Italian fluency is a plus, but not mandatory. Hourly rate: $20. The part-time assistant will be required to work from the office two days per week (preferably Monday/Thursday).The rest of the week they may work remotely. The social media coordinator is not required to work in the office and can work remotely.
