A year ago on this Liturgical Weekend of Christ the King, I was installed as your Pastor by Cardinal Dolan! It is a blessing and a pleasure to get to know you more and more since then, especially as we collaborate in the Mission of the Church. Thank you for your encouragement, prayers and support.
A belated Happy Birthday to Sister Ana Chiara, DLJC, who celebrated her special day yesterday (Friday, November 19th)! We welcome Sr. Fatima, DLJC, and some discerners this week who will be visiting in the House of Prayer.
It is very heartening to see Operation Cornerstone kicking into action after a year plus of the pandemic, and to see so many facets of the parish and school who are contributing to support our Armed Service Men and Women through this wonderful parish tradition. It is also heartening to see the generosity of so many in the parish and community reach out to those in need with our Midnight Runs and the Giving Tree. Bravo! and Brava! to all involved in organizing such wonderful initiatives.
Thank you to all who have passed along birthday greetings. My trip to England for a cousin's baptism went very well. After such an international trip, please know that I tested negative for Covid-19 with a rapid home test on Thursday (the third such test this past week). I await extra confirmation after the "brain tickle" test from the same day, I am exhibiting no ill symptoms and had my Covid booster shot almost two weeks ago. Should anyone be taking some international trips, I found the VeriFLY app to be a big help in navigating all the requirements to get there and back.
I will be getting down to organize the first pass of the 2022 Mass Intention requests. I beg your patience with me regarding the financial report as I am still finalizing its presentation for the parish.
As we prepare for Thanksgiving this week, allow me to wish all of you and your families a blessed holiday weekend on behalf of the clergy, religious and rectory staff. Thank you for whom you are as beloved daughters and sons of our Heavenly Father in the life of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, and for all you are called to do to build up the Church in faith, hope and charity. If you are traveling this weekend, especially after last year's restrictions, may you do so safely as you enjoy being with family and loved ones.

All Hail Christ the King!
After honoring our dead and hearing this month of the apocalypse ("unveiling") and end times, this November Sunday closes the Church's liturgical year with the great feast of "Christ the King."
Pontius Pilate, and all the political rulers throughout history, have limited power. But we profess faith and loyalty to a King who is truly just, merciful, fatherly, and loving to the point of death. The ancestor of King David, Jesus, fulfilled every prophecy of the Old Testament and desires for us to spread this Good News until his Kingdom might finally be established here on earth.

MASS SEATING
1. Striving to best accommodate all seating preferences at our Masses: the School side of the church has no seating restrictions on distance and masks are optional, most of the Carman Road side offers social distancing and we ask all to wear masks on that side of church, and the Adoration Chapel offers an environment for those who are uncomfortable being in the main body of the church with unmasked individuals, therefore social distance and required masks are in order.
2. During the School Year until the Sunday before Memorial Day 2022, the Sunday Mass schedule is as follows: 7:30 AM (no music), 9:00 AM (Family Mass), 10:30 AM (Adult Choir Mass) and 12:00 noon.

Dear friends in the Lord:
At this time of the year, in the month of November, we, as individuals, families, parishes and a nation come together to offer thanks to the Lord for the many blessings He has given up. It is also the occasion when we look to give something back to those who are poor. For 104 years, Catholic Charities has been serving all New Yorkers in need by making available a range of services that provide help and create hope for the most vulnerable among us, Catholics and non-Catholics alike.
Beginning in 2017 with the centennial of Catholic Charities Campaign for Charity and Justice. This is not a new collection. It is a transformation of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. Funds raised offer grants to parish and community groups to further the social ministry of the Church here at home. Awards are made to projects that are founded on the core catholic belief in the dignity of each person, as made in the image of God, and try to advance Catholic Charities' mission to build a more just and compassionate society. A key feature is that a significant portion of the funds raised will provide a number of SEEK (search for education, elevation, and knowledge) grants to our parishes. I am happy to share that, due to your characteristic generosity last year, more than 25 parishes and community-based works of charity across the archdiocese were able to receive grants of $336,000 to serve our neediest neighbors.
It seems providential that this offering is being collected on November 21, just a week after the World Day of the Poor. The connection is clear. Your support makes a real difference for people living in poverty across our archdiocese. As I write to you today, I ask you to consider a sacrificial gift to this fourth annual Catholic Charities Campaign for Charity and Justice. Visit www.catholiccharities.org/ccj to learn more.

Friends, the holiday of Thanksgiving offers us a chance to step back and take stock of all our blessings: friends, family, health, work, etc.
Today is a chance to slow down and simply rest in, above all, God's abundant goodness. God willed us into being, supplying our very breath out of sheer love. He sent his only Son to die for our sin so that we may have life and life in abundance! (John 10:10). Beyond that, God gave us his Church and the sacraments to feed and sustain us for this earthly pilgrimage.
In fact, the word "Eucharist" comes from the Greek term for "Thanksgiving." (Koinonia equates to "sharing," where we get "Communion"). The entire Christian story is one of being a gift, of being created out of and responding to love, and living a life of profound Thanksgiving.

WESHARE DONOR MATCH PROGRAM
The holiday season is one of the largest giving seasons for our church. Our online giving provider WeShare is generously providing a donor match program to help us increase recurring giving. Online gifts help reduce costs and our time spent handling other forms of payment.
For every first gift from a new recurring donor that is added between November 1 and December 31, 2021, WeShare will match that first gift, up to $50, with a maximum match of $1,000 for our church. To be eligible for the matching gift, more than one installment must be set up and the first recurring gift must be transacted by December 31, 2021.
We appreciate your generosity and your support of our church. We prayerfully ask that you consider helping us meet this goal by creating your recurring online gift today.

GIVING TREE AT IHM
Please take a gift tag, purchase a new gift and return it unwrapped under the Giving Tree by Sunday, December 12th. Gifts are for the Dominican Sisters Family Health Agency in the South Bronx; Paradise House, a residence for people with AIDS on the Grand Concourse, HOPE Community Services, a food pantry, soup kitchen and social service agency in New Rochelle and some local families.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We will be sorting Giving Tree items in the Rectory on Monday, December 6th and December 13thh after the 9AM Mass. Much help is needed!
OPERATION CORNERSTONE
Operation Cornerstone was started over 15 years ago by a group of IHM mothers who had children in the military who were deployed in War Zones at Christmastime. We will continue this tradition in November and will partner with United for the Troops in Shrub Oak, who will arrange for the shipment of the boxes. Cornerstone will cover the cost of shipment and is asking parishioners of IHM for various donations:
- Letters of support thanking service members for their bravery and sacrifices (they especially enjoy cards from children and often write back to them).
- Monetary donations can be left at the Rectory.
- Donation boxes will be placed in the back of the church, side entrances to the church and in the school auditorium for the following items:
- Food: Granola bars, cereal, beef jerky, tuna fish, canned chicken/spam, peanut butter, jelly (no glass jars), nutella, store bought cookies, nuts, trail mix, dried fruit, powder gatorade, Kool Aid Singles
- Toiletries: Travel sized shampoo, body wash, hand sanitizer, deodorant, tooth paste, tooth brushes, dental floss, lip balm, cough drops, Tums, Rolaids
- Miscellaneous: Playing Cards, travel games, stress balls, crossword puzzles, word search, Sudoku.
