I write this as I sit at JFK awaiting a flight to England to join my cousin and his family for the baptism of his new baby girl. Please excuse me from the parish this weekend.
Earlier this week I had an opportunity to be on the second of three retreats His Eminence, Cardinal Dolan, has organized for the priests of the Archdiocese of New York. It was a good time for prayer but also a wonderful time of fraternity reconnecting with many priests that I have not seen in a while.
This weekend I would like to congratulate those men who will receive their First, Second and Third Degrees as Knights of Columbus in an Exemplification Ceremony sponsored by the Keogh Council this Sunday after the 12 noon Mass. Please feel free to join in person or to watch it on live stream. Thank you Brother John Larkin for all you are doing to make it happen!
Please pray for our 8th graders from our Religious Education Program and from our IHM School who will be on a brief retreat Monday eve given by our Sisters of the Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. May they prepare well for the Sacrament of Confirmation next June!

The 2022 Book is open for intentions requests and will remain open for requests until Tuesday, November 16th at 5:00PM. We will then take a pause to process such requests. All requests during this initial time will be given equal consideration.
- Intention requests are limited to 5 requests per family and two names per Mass.

- Every First Saturday's 8:30 AM Mass will be reserved for parishioners who died in the prior month; November's First Saturday morning Mass will be reserved as usual for the Annual Bereavement Mass.
- The Offering for an announced Mass is $20. You may submit a check payment with your written request, or if you complete the online form, you will receive an email with payment directions.

Heaven & Earth Will Pass Away
We have a strange fascination with the apocalypse.
Whether it's movies based on natural disasters, post-nuclear landscapes, or zombie outbreaks, there's something strange and unnerving about "the End Times."
The truest biblical understanding of "Apocalypse" though is "Unveiling," as a bride is unveiled on her wedding day, a moment of revealing (and thus, "Revelation"). "Eye has not seen and ear has not heard," tells us what our new reality will be, a time when we are reunited with our bodies, and God's kingdom is finally established without any trace of evil or sin.
In our Gospel this weekend Jesus affirms:

We are dealing with a great mystery here and this is why we are fascinated. Hear Bishop Barron's thoughts on the reality of Heaven from the award-winning Catholicism series:
“There, goodwill shall be so ordered in us that we shall have no other desire than to remain there eternally.”
Questions for Additional Reflection:
- What do you imagine when you think of "Heaven"?
- How can focusing on our death convict us to live better in the here and now?
- The Resurrection. We Christians believe that our bodies will be reunited with our souls after death. Do you struggle to believe that? Ask God for an increase in faith to accept this with joy!
MASS SEATING
1. Striving to best accommodate all seating preferences at our Masses: the School side of the church has no seating restrictions on distance and masks are optional, most of the Carman Road side offers social distancing and we ask all to wear masks on that side of church, and the Adoration Chapel offers an environment for those who are uncomfortable being in the main body of the church with unmasked individuals, therefore social distance and required masks are in order.
2. During the School Year until the Sunday before Memorial Day 2022, the Sunday Mass schedule is as follows: 7:30 AM (no music), 9:00 AM (Family Mass), 10:30 AM (Adult Choir Mass) and 12:00 noon.

The holiday season is one of the largest giving seasons for our church. Our online giving provider WeShare is generously providing a donor match program to help us increase recurring giving. Online gifts help reduce costs and our time spent handling other forms of payment.
For every first gift from a new recurring donor that is added between November 1 and December 31, 2021, WeShare will match that first gift, up to $50, with a maximum match of $1,000 for our church. To be eligible for the matching gift, more than one installment must be set up and the first recurring gift must be transacted by December 31, 2021.

Mass of Remembrance - Thank You
Thank you to Mary Wasacz, Diana Casey, our Bereavement Committee, St. Veronica’s Guild, who coordinated and organized last week’s Mass of Remembrance.
- Mass on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25th will be at 9:00AM
- Mass the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, November 26th will be only at 8:30AM, followed by a Holy Hour with the Rosary
- Usual weekday Adoration will be suspended for those 2 days
Count Blessings With A Thankful Heart
Gratitude for God’s blessings is one of the most distinctive marks of those of us who follow him. An ungrateful heart leads to dissatisfaction and despair but a true spirit of thankfulness restores contentment and joy. November is a time to count our blessings as children of God.
OPERATION CORNERSTONE
Operation Cornerstone was started over 15 years ago by a group of IHM mothers who had children in the military who were deployed in War Zones at Christmastime. We will continue this tradition in November and will partner with United for the Troops in Shrub Oak, who will arrange for the shipment of the boxes. Cornerstone will cover the cost of shipment and is asking parishioners of IHM for various donations:
- Letters of support thanking service members for their bravery and sacrifices (they especially enjoy cards from children and often write back to them).
- Monetary donations can be left at the Rectory.
- Donation boxes will be placed in the back of the church, side entrances to the church and in the school auditorium for the following items:
- Food: Granola bars, cereal, beef jerky, tuna fish, canned chicken/spam, peanut butter, jelly (no glass jars), nutella, store bought cookies, nuts, trail mix, dried fruit, powder gatorade, Kool Aid Singles
- Toiletries: Travel sized shampoo, body wash, hand sanitizer, deodorant, tooth paste, tooth brushes, dental floss, lip balm, cough drops, Tums, Rolaids
- Miscellaneous: Playing Cards, travel games, stress balls, crossword puzzles, word search, Sudoku.

The Knights of Columbus invites all Catholic men, ages 18 and older, to join the John A. Keogh Council 2108.
In 1882, Blessed Fr. McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus to be a pillar of strength to poor Catholic families. Here are some recent examples of local Knights carrying out Fr. McGivney’s vision of charity and unity right here in Westchester County in response to Hurricane Ida,
- “Boots-on-the-ground” volunteer teams to provide food, clothes and gift cards to local families displaced by flooding.
- Truckloads of food and clothing donations from all over New York State to emergency distribution centers at local churches.
- Generous financial contributions to help rebuild homes damaged by flooding.
Catholic men ages 18+ are urged to consider becoming Knights to similarly help their parishes and communities, as well as to protect their families via the top-rated Knights of Columbus fraternal benefits program.
You and your family are invited to attend the Mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on November 14th at 12:00PM. After Mass, you will participate in a 35 minute Exemplification Ceremony, which will enable you to become a 3rd Degree Knight.

- The Treasures of the Church – Exposition of Sacred Relics is taking place at the Marian Shrine located at 174 Filors Lane, Stony Point, NY on Monday, November 15, beginning at 7:00pm.
- Father Carlos Martins of the Companions of the Cross has an extraordinary Vatican collection of over 150 relics, some as old as 2000 years. Among the treasures will be relics of St. Joseph, St. Maria Goretti, St. Therese of Lisieux (the “Little Flower”), St. Francis of Assisi, St. Anthony of Padua, St. Thomas Aquinas, and St. Faustina Kowalska.
- There will also be a portion of the Veil of Our Lady and one of the largest remaining pieces of the True Cross in the world. Those in attendance will be able to examine and venerate each relic. Throughout history, many healings have been worked in the presence of relics; and thousands have occurred through this ministry. You are encouraged to bring your articles of devotion (such as rosaries, holy cards, etc.) and pictures of ill friends/family members, which you will be able to touch to the reliquaries as a means of intercession. There is no cost to attend this event.
