Jesus was very insistent that children are to come unto Him. The Church wants children to be able to receive the Word of God in an understandable way to engage them more deeply in the life of Jesus and our Faith. IHM's Children's Liturgy of the Word will begin this Sunday at the 9:00 AM Mass. After the opening prayer, children will be invited forward to participate. They will be led and accompanied downstairs to the lower church by our seminarian, Vincent Castaldi, and some parents and a catechist. Parents are welcome to join any week. All readings will be age-appropriate and Vincent this week will say a few words. After the Apostle's Creed and some Petitions, the children will rejoin us in the main church at the Offertory. After Mass some refreshments will be available outside - thank you Theresa and Jeffrey Nicholson for organizing once again this new moment of "Coffee and Donuts"!!
This past Thursday eve, a group of men of the parish of various ages and facets of the life of the parish came together for a wonderful evening of socializing, tasty food and drinks, a little spiritual thought for the week from yours truly and a hope to participate virtually in Cardinal Dolan's ManUP New York Men's Conference on Saturday, October 23rd. Thank you Frank Murtha, Ryan Spicer and Jared DiPalma for organizing and spreading the word about the first gathering!
Join IHM in the school auditorium for the Conference on October 23rd from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM next Saturday. A bite to eat and drink for breakfast will be offered and we will order lunch once we know who will be there. Free-will offering accepted. On Thursday, October 21st from 8-9pm in the school auditorium, I will offer a talk on Catholic Social Teaching. It will be an overview that will highlight one of the four pillars, the Dignity of Human Life, for Respect Life Month.
This Wednesday, the Archdiocesan Young Adult outreach for southern and central Westchester will hold the monthly 6:30pm Holy Hour, 7:30pm Mass followed by a social at Annunciation Parish in Crestwood. September's evening was a wonderful time!

May I ask your assistance in the distribution of Holy Communion? Our Archdiocese continues to encourage the reception of the Lord's Body in the hand at this time. For those who would like to receive the Sacred Host on the tongue, know that all priests and the seminarian are willing to offer Holy Communion on the tongue. We just ask that you wait until the end of the Communion line to approach the Altar as we will be sanitizing our hands between families. Thank you for your understanding.

PUBLIC SQUARE ROSARY RALLY TODAY
You are invited to the 2021 PUBLIC SQUARE ROSARY RALLY TODAY, Saturday, October 16th at 12:00 noon.
It will take place in the North Parking lot of IHM Church in Scarsdale by the Grotto of Our Lady. This year as we pray Our Lady’s Rosary and other prayers in her honor, we invoke her blessings on marriage and the family and on our country and the world. This Rally is one of 20,000 rosary rallies, organized by America Needs Fatima, that will take place all over the United States. To Serve & Give His Life
What's the point of power and authority?
Is power meant for its own sake? Is authority solely to boss others around?
For the Christian, power is meant to be used to serve others and any authority we receive is meant to bring about good for the least around us.
"For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many," Jesus tells his disciples who are vying for the VIP seats in his heavenly kingdom. Jesus' mission was to die a lonely, humiliating death, a mission that would, through his sufferings, warrant for us new life.
As St. Paul tells us, "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has similarly been tested in every way, yet without sin. So let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and to find grace for timely help!" (Hebrews 4).

MASS SEATING
1. Striving to best accommodate all seating preferences at our Masses: the School side of the church has no seating restrictions on distance and masks are optional, most of the Carman Road side offers social distancing and we ask all to wear masks on that side of church, and the Adoration Chapel offers an environment for those who are uncomfortable being in the main body of the church with unmasked individuals, therefore social distance and required masks are in order.
2. During the School Year until the Sunday before Memorial Day 2022, the Sunday Mass schedule is as follows: 7:30 AM (no music), 9:00 AM (Family Mass), 10:30 AM (Adult Choir Mass) and 12:00 noon.

Month of the Holy Rosary

Dear friends in the Lord:
This year the worldwide Eucharistic celebration for World Mission Sunday will be celebrated on the weekend of October 24th. This important day in the life of the Church universal fortifies our understanding of our shard call to mission, bestowed upon us at Baptism.
Pope Francis, in his message for World Mission Sunday reflects on the theme: "We cannot speak about what we have seen and heard" (Acts 4:20). The Holy Father shares his zeal, reminding us that, "as Christians, we cannot keep the Lord to ourselves," as we "recall with gratitude all those men and women who by their testimony of life help us to renew our baptismal commitment to be generous and joyful apostles of the Gospel." He invites us to speak of our faith.
World Mission Sunday provides us with that very opportunity. We can speak about our faith and respond to our missionary call - through prayer, participation in the Eucharist, and giving generously to the collection for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith on that special day. Your gifts support and sustain priests, religious and lay pastoral leaders in more than 1,100 mission dioceses in Asia, Africa, the Pacific Islands, and parts of Latin America and Europe as they proclaim the Gospel, build the Church, Serve the poor - and speak of our shared faith in all corners of the world.

St. John Paul II - October 22nd
A son of Poland who survived both the Nazi and Communist regime, Karol Wojtyla became a priest, and then a bishop, and then was elected Pope of the Catholic Church in 1978 and took on the name John Paul II.
Young Karol was a poet, an athlete, a philosopher, and a deep man of prayer. As Pope, he made over 100 apostolic journeys across the globe and deeply loved human love, devoting the first 5 years of his teaching to what is now known as "The Theology of the Body," a Scriptural reflection on how the love between a husband and a wife mirrors the life-giving love of the Trinity.
He loved the youth, establishing the global world Youth Day events. He loved Mary, citing the Rosary as one of his favorite devotions. Above all, he loved Jesus Christ, clinging to the Cross throughout his pontificate and his last days suffering under Parkinson's disease until his death in 2005.

The Eastchester Rotary Interact Club is collecting items for Midnight Run, helping the homeless in NYC. If you would like to contribute any items, please drop them off on:

Knights of Columbus Raffle
The Rev. John A. Keogh Council: C&B is the Charitable & Benevolent Raffle program the Knights of Columbus runs each year. It is their main fundraiser and they use those funds to help those suffering from floods, earthquakes and other natural disasters.
C&B raffles will be available after all Masses on October 23-24.
Recently, an IHM parishioner won $10,000.00 from a ticket purchased at IHM after a weekend Mass!

The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a process of initiation into the Catholic Community of Faith for persons who are experiencing a conversion in their lives and seeking either Christian baptism in the Catholic Church or full Communion with the Catholic tradition of Eucharist and Confirmation.
It is a process which includes the study of the Word of God, Catholic teaching, the acceptance of Christian values and morality, the development and deepening of a life of prayer and action with the support and involvement of the local parish community. RCIA is a process of conversion, designed to meet the unique and individual needs of the participants.
Who is RCIA for?
- Non-Catholics who want to find out more about the Catholic Faith
- Those who want to join the Catholic Church through Baptism, or Profession of Faith
- Those who were baptized Catholic as infants but never received religious education, Confirmation, or First Eucharist.
Please gather in the school auditorium after the 12:00 noon Sunday Mass for the discussions and formation.

- Spread the word! IHM Class of 1976 Reunion: The Class of 1976 is starting to plan a class reunion for Saturday, April 23, 2022. The tentative agenda is to hold a Mass followed by a dinner/cocktail party with music and lots of reminiscing.
