My dear friends,
It is good to be back with you, my spiritual family, after three wonderful weekends with my blood family and relatives! I spent time first with my brother and sister-in-law (whom I had not seen in 19 months) and two sets of uncles and aunts. We enjoyed being with each other and catching up at the beach among other things. Last weekend, my Aunt (my Mother's sister) in Michigan turned 90 and enjoyed a weekend of celebrations with her clan. It was great seeing cousins: some little ones for the first time, to my goddaughter, to those senior to me. Being with family during the summer reminds me of how much family can renew our identity and that nothing replaces quality and quantity of time together. This is the blessing I find in the Catholic Church, the spiritual Family of God. Through Mass, prayer, Confession and being with one another, I experience a renewal in the identity of my soul as a child of God and as a priest. By time with Jesus in quiet prayer and time with you, our brothers and sisters in the Lord, my relationship with the Holy Trinity and the Church deepens. Thank God for our spiritual family!
For those of you who are still cleaning, drying out and making repairs after Storm Ida came through town, our thoughts and prayers are with you. We are aware that some families sustained significant flooding of multiple feet to their basements. At the parish, our outside drains were overwhelmed leading to water entering half of the lower church through the two side sloping entrance doors as well as the door near the garages. The basement of the rectory also took in water through the garages. It amounted to a few inches in hallways, various rooms, closets and larger spaces. Thank you to all staff and volunteers who are helping to address the cleanup as we hope to prevent residual effects.
Our parish did receive a blessing in the midst of this storm - Sr. Ana Chiara, DLJC, and Sr. Marguerite Marie, DLJC, arrived September 1st after having driven through the heavy rain for hours. They join Sr. Nancy, SC, in the House of Prayer and we would like to extend a big welcome to them! On Sunday, September 12th, Mother Lucy of the Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ will be visiting; then we will have an opportunity to formally welcome them to our community.

God bless all parish students who have begun a new year at school. I look forward to IHM School starting Wednesday of this week and seeing the students, parents and teachers back on campus each day! Thank you, Mrs. Tracy Keelin, our Principal, along with your staff, our maintenance team and the teachers for all of the preparation you have put into this opening of this new school year! Please pray for the faculty who will have some hours of Prayer and Recollection this Tuesday at the House of Prayer.
Speaking of prayer, please join me in praying this month of September for those our Heavenly Father is calling to join the Church here at IHM through the Rite of Christian Initiation as Adults.

The House of Prayer begins its 47th year with a new community of Sisters. Sr. Nancy Kellar, SC, one of the founding members in 1975, continues refreshed and energized with new members and vision. She is joined by two sisters, Sr. Ana Chira Richardson and Sr. Marguerite Marie Waghorn whose congregation is called The Disciples of the Lord Jesus. They are a Franciscan charismatic Congregation from Amarillo, Texas.
Together, we all share the charism for
Prayer, Praise and Evangelization.

The Deaf Hear and the Mute Speak
Have you ever witnessed miraculous healing? Was it a friend, teammate, family member, or even yourself?
God wants us healed! He wants all of his creation whole again! Signs of healing and wonders would accompany the Messiah, the Old Testament prophets affirmed: the blind would see, the deaf would hear, and the lame would leap! When Jesus began his miraculous healings, many believed that this was indeed the evidence that he was the chosen one, the Son of God.

MASS SEATING, BAPTISMS & ADORATION UPDATES
1. Striving to best accommodate all seating preferences at our Masses: the School side of the church has no seating restrictions on distance and masks are optional, most of the Carman Road side offers social distancing and we ask all to wear masks on that side of church, and the Adoration Chapel offers an environment for those who are uncomfortable being in the main body of the church with unmasked individuals, therefore social distance and required masks are in order. Thank you for your understanding.
2. We will continue to have Sunday Mass at 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM and 12:00 noon. Starting September 12, 2021, until the Sunday before Memorial Day 2022, we plan on the Sunday Mass schedule being: 7:30 AM (no music), 9:00 AM (Family Mass), 10:30 AM (Adult Choir Mass) and 12:00 noon.
3. The Sacrament of Baptism for Infants and Toddlers is held on 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month at 1:30PM. Up to four families will be accommodated for each scheduled Baptism. Please contact the Rectory for availability and to set up an appointment.
4. Adoration is scheduled to resume on Monday, September 13, 2021 in the Marian Chapel. We will begin with limited hours and build towards Monday through Friday Perpetual Adoration. Given the space and the current health situation, masks will be required. Sign-ups for specific hours will be online with an option to contact the Rectory directly. Please spread the word!

Classes will be beginning very soon and we are still in need of one fourth grade teacher and two fifth grade teachers.
Here is some information to consider:
- One and a half hours for class (in person)
- Time Commitment: some time during the week to prepare the next lesson
- 4th Grade: Classes run from 3:30-5:00PM on Wednesday evenings
- 5th Grade: Classes run from 5:15-6:45PM on Wednesday evenings
- One hour Faculty Meetings two-three times a year where all the teachers gather to share ideas with each other
- Curriculum: All materials are provided -
- 4th Grade: Commandments
- 5th Grade: Sacraments and the Mass
- The tuition for the year is waived for teachers, and if you need any help or suggestions, I am always available.
