A Message from our Seminarian,
Carlos Germosen
To the parish family of IHM,
It’s pretty incredible to believe that it was around this time last year, I was preparing the last of my belongings to move into IHM and begin my pastoral year of my seminary formation. I remember distinctly serving the 9 AM Mass and immediately unloading my car to live in what I would call “home” for this past year. It’s hard to come to terms that my term here in this wonderful parish community is coming to a close.
Words can’t begin to describe my gratitude to all of you for making my year here at IHM so fruitful and beneficial for my discernment and formation for the priesthood. I would firstly like to thank our parish priests, Fr. Rafferty, Fr. Thumma, as well as both of our pastors, Fr. Lynch and Msgr. Sweeney. What a blessing it was to have not one, but two wonderful pastors! Thank you all for your ministry and the priestly wisdom you shared with me to ensure that I can be the most faithful and joyful priest I can be for the Church. You are a true blessing to the IHM community!
I would also like to thank in a particular way our parish school, our students and staff, with Mrs.Tracy Keelin, our principal. Thank you for giving me the opportunity and the blessing of being able to teach our wonderful students on a regular basis. You saw a gift in me, and, in giving me this task to teach, helped me to recognize that gift. I will be forever grateful to all of you for the invaluable lessons you taught me in the classroom each day.
Finally, thank YOU, faithful parishioners of IHM. Fr. Lynch mentioned when I had first arrived that you would become my formators, my advisors, and my professors as I would have in the seminary. And what an incredible job you have all done. It is here at IHM that I have reaffirmed and truly discerned my desire to become a priest of Jesus Christ. I could not have done it all without your prayers, love, and support.
Officially, my last day here at IHM is Friday, July 16th, the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. As you are all under the patronage of Our Blessed Mother and her Immaculate Heart, I entrust all of my prayers for you all to her powerful intercession. Please be assured of my prayers and please continue to pray for me as I complete my last two years of seminary. God willing, I hope to return to IHM (aside from visits here and there, of course), as your priest.
Oremus pro invicem - “Let us pray for one another.”
Faithfully yours in Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,
Carlos Germosen
