IHM CHURCH - January 10 Bulletin
My dear friends,
We continue our prayers for Fr. Lynch and Sr. Mary, S.C., - may the good Lord grant them strength and health!
This Sunday we celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord.
Some years ago, Pope Francis suggested we all look up the date of our own Baptism. The reason was the immense importance of that day. Through the Sacrament of Baptism salvation, grace and faith came to our souls! When we were joined to Jesus Christ through those sacred waters of Baptism, did not His relationships become our relationship by grace? Jesus' Father became our Heavenly Father. Jesus' Blessed Mother Mary became our Spiritual Mother. His foster father, Saint Joseph, became our protector and Patron of the Universal Church - the Mystical Body of Christ (we look forward to unpacking this relationship during this Year of Saint Joseph). And all the Baptized became our sisters and brothers in the Lord (later this month we will have our annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity).
One of the things we miss during this past year is Holy Water at the Church doors to remind us of our Baptism into Christ Jesus. Until that beautiful practice of the sacramental returns safely, know that you can bring your own container to obtained some Holy Water for personal and family use outside of church. Blessed water is available in the sanctuary near the Baptismal Font and at the back Sacristy door near the Board Room.
May I leave you with a prayer for our beloved country from the Church's Missal?
O God, who arrange all things according to a wonderful design, graciously receive the prayers we pour out to you for our country, the United States of America, that, through the wisdom if its leaders and the integrity of its citizens, harmony and justice may be assured and lasting prosperity come with peace. - Amen.
